Mott & Bow Jeans Review | Are these affordable women’s jeans really worth the hype

Mott & Bow are one of the latest denim brands I’ve tried. I’d been on the hunt for good skinny jeans that fit, are the right length and have a decent amount of stretch. Mott & Bow actually reached out to me and since I was looking for a new pair I figured I’d give them a go. They’re most known for their jeans and basic tees I put them to the test in this try on haul and review. Some of the styles of Mott and Bow jeans sound really similar so I’m going to break down the differences to help find the right pair for you. As well as how they fit, whether I think they’re worth it, quality, an exclusive Mott & Bow discount code and everything else you need to know like returns. Definitely read the return policy, as it’s not my favorite but luckily I didn’t need to do one.

Mott & Bow review

I just discovered the brand Mott & Bow and Mott & Bow jeans and I’m super impressed. All 4 pairs fit (when I took note of their sizing) and I now have 2 new favorite pairs: 1 pair of high waisted skinny jeans and 1 pair of mid rise slim straight white jeans. So here’s everything you need to know in my honest Mott & Bow review.

Who are Mott & Bow

Mott and Bow first launched their denim in 2014 with a variety of washes, styles, and fits for both men and women. They are particularly known for their comfortable and flattering skinny jeans thanks to their stretchy ‘denim science fit’.  More on that later.

Mott & Bow is a clothing company known for its focus on high-quality, well-fitting essentials at an accessible price point with most of their jeans being between $99-139.

Although they do make a few other everyday basics like t-shirts, like this white t-shirt which is the fitted Marcy Tee is XS. It’s a more fitted style but super soft. It’s really denim that’s their main focus. I like brands that focus on mainly one thing as it normally means they’re better at it.

Are Mott and Bow jeans worth the money

I feel like they’re really reasonably priced compared to other designer denim brands. Mott & Bow offers a more affordable option without sacrificing quality with prices range from $99-139. They do have some good sale finds for under $70 too.

Quality and construction wise, Mott & Bow uses premium fabrics and what they call “Denim Science” to create jeans that are comfortable, stretchy, and designed to last. I find them just as good as my more expensive jeans and in most cases, a lot softer and stretchier.

One of the reasons they can keep their prices lower is probably partly due to their strict return policy. The best value is in their bundle jeans and t-shirt sets. You also get free shipping then.

Do Mott and Bow jeans run true to size?

I find they all run true to size or slightly small. However, while Mott & Bow generally gets really positive reviews, some reviews mention that the sizing can be inconsistent. So if you’re not sure of your size, maybe order multiple sizes to try on at home since it’s a flat fee to return them.

The 4 styles I ordered all fit perfectly when I followed the sizing recommendations. I’m normally a 24 in jeans, sometimes I’ll go up to a 25 like I did in the Mott & Bow Jane jeans as they recommended sizing up. The rest I ordered in a 24” waist which is the smallest they make and a 28” inseam (the other option is 30”). I also like that you can choose the inseam as I like my skinny jeans to stop a bit higher so that I can wear them with flats, or heels and be able to see the heels.

Luckily, their website offers a wide range of size options and fits, with detailed guides to help you find the perfect pair of jeans or other clothing item. So definitely read the fit of each style.

Mott & Bow review | Jeans try on haul

All of the blue skinny jeans I ordered are high waisted as I find them more flattering. The white jeans were the only mid/low rise jeans I ordered from them.

These jeans sit just at your natural waist, and are fitted through the hips, thighs and legs. Their ultra flattering fit lifts your butt, sculpts your waist, hugs your curves, and is leg lengthening.

1. Mott & Bow jeans review | High rise skinny Jane (light blue) $119

These high rise skinny jeans are the only ones I sized up to a 25 in and I’m so glad they did. The Jane jeans do have a 35% power stretch factor which is always appreciated. I love the soft fit and fit of these. They are a heavy weight denim (12.8oz) so more suited to the Fall and Winter than Summer.

One of the things I noticed about Mott & Bow jeans when trying on this 1st pair is that there are no brand labels at the back to scratch you. It’s printed on inside of the waistband. A small but much appreciated detail.

2. Mott & Bow jeans review | Beekman High rise skinny jeans in (light/medium blue) $119

These Mott and Bow jeans were my favorite of the Mott and Bow skinny jeans I tried as they fit the best in both the waist, legs and length. I’m a big fan of denim that hits at your natural waist for the most flattering fit. Love them or hate skinny jeans, the fact that they are fitted through the hips, thighs and legs means you can wear them with sweater dresses, knee high and even over the knee boots.

Their ultra flattering fit lifts your butt, sculpts your waist, hugs your curves, and is leg lengthening.

They have a 32% stretch factor, so slightly less than the Jane but not really noticeable and are a similar weight (12.5oz). What sold me on these is their butt lifting, fit, and soft feel.

3. Mott & Bow jeans review | Moore High rise skinny jeans (medium blue) $129

These are the most expensive of the Mott and Bow jeans that I ordered but still under $150. These were the hardest to wiggle into as they definitely had the smallest ankle opening. They were also the longest pair even though the inseams said they were the same.

They still have that 35% stretch factor but the lighter weight (10.5oz) makes them more suited for Spring and Summer. Another thing I liked about all of the Mott & Bow skinny jeans is that none of them dug in anywhere when you sat if you know what I ‘mean’m trying to say!

Slim straight Mercer jeans review in BONE $119

If you’re not looking for skinny jeans, these slim straight fit jeans have a lot more relaxed fit. This style actually comes in 3 Inseam lengths: 28, 30 or 32”
in case you want more length. They’re less stretchy than the other 3 pairs but I really couldn’t feel the difference. They have a 20% stretch factor but I could still move around and squat in them. The light weight denim (10oz) is perfect for Spring and Summer 10oz.

The Mercer jeans are there lowest sitting denim but still not low rise. They sit 2″ below your natural waist versus the other high rise styles I tried.

Mott & Bow T-shirts

Why is the perfect white t-shirt so hard to find? Too sheer, not soft enough, goes grey, etc. The first thing I noticed was how soft the Mott & Bow tees were.

Yes, the white does need a bra underneath IMO as like most white’s it’s not fully opaque but it’s also not as sheer as a lot of other brands I’ve tried. It is a fitted style which I tend to prefer anyway and such a good wardrobe basic that’s hard to beat at this price.

Does Mott and Bow charge for returns

Definitely read their return policy in case it changes as I don’t want to give you the incorrect information but at the time of writing this, this is how it was: You have 30 days from the date of delivery to return your item. There is a $9 processing fee per return for mail-in returns and a $5 processing fee per return when done through a Happy Returns location.

However, returns aren’t refunded to your payment method but either via store credit or a Mott & Bow gift card. They also don’t refund shipping costs but most companies don’t.
