When is US Teacher Appreciation Week 2024?
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6th – May 10th 2024 and is held during the first full week of May every year. Although it’s inception was 1953, it didn’t become an official National holiday until 1980. In the beginning it was celebrated earlier in the year in March. However, in 1984 it was moved to the first full week of May (I’m not sure why).
Eleanor Roosevelt was actually the one to first convince Congress that we needed a dedicated period to thank teachers for their hard work. Teacher Appreciation Week began in 1953.
