I’ve been using CurrentBody LED masks since 2022, from Series 1 through Series 2, so when CurrentBody sent me their new Series 3 LED face mask to test, I couldn’t wait to see what they’d changed. Spoiler alert: I absolutely love it, and it’s a much bigger upgrade than I expected! For the first time, you can actually build your own LED mask, personalizing your treatment LED by LED based on your skin concerns. With six wavelengths versus three in Series 2, 750 LEDs and app-connected treatments, CurrentBody skin led light therapy mask Series 3 takes customization to another level. Instead of treating your entire face the same way, you can target different areas with different wavelengths. I’m at the age where my skin has a mind of its own, thanks, hormones! My concerns can change from one day to the next, so I love being able to create a treatment that addresses more than just fine lines and wrinkles. Whether I’m focusing on firmness, pigmentation or the occasional breakout, I can customize my treatment in the app rather than reaching for a different device.
I’ve been testing Series 3 for a month, and while I’ll continue updating this review with more before-and-after photos, I’m already impressed by how much more versatile it is than previous generations. Here’s how it compares with my Series 1 and Series 2 masks, how I’ve personalized my own treatments and why I think this is so much more than just another anti-aging LED mask.
CurrentBody gifted me the Series 3 LED face mask, but as always, my opinions and results are my own. This article also contains affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission if you shop through them at no additional cost to you.

CurrentBody Series 3 LED Mask Review: First Impressions
I love my CurrentBody Series 2 so my first thought was, do we really need another mask update and how different could it be? That was my first mistake as the Series 3 has proved to be very different! The first difference is that the CurrentBody LED Mask Series 3 is a much more personalized device than Series 2. The feature I appreciate the most is being able to customize my treatment in the CurrentBody app based on my own skin concerns and even change which areas I’m targeting. More on that later.

One thing I missed with the Series 2 CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask was blue light therapy for dealing with breakouts when they popped up, so the addition of 415nm blue light is actually one of the biggest Series 3 benefits for me. Series 2 was great for my anti-aging goals, with red, near-infrared and deep near-infrared light, but it didn’t give me the option to switch to blue light when I had a breakout. Series 3 not only adds blue light, but lets you either treat your whole face or target specifically where you need it rather than treating your entire face with it. That makes the mask feel much more useful for the way my skin behaves day to day.
The mask also has a LOT more LEDs: 750 vs 236 in Series 2, but with the same flexible Best-Fit silicone design they perfected with the Series 2, which I really like, and not just for comfort and fit, more LED bulbs are a big deal. With LED therapy, consistent coverage matters because the light needs to reach the treatment area evenly at the intended dose.
The different wavelengths of the LEDs in Series 3 mask work at different depths which matters for effectiveness. Blue light at 415nm works closer to the skin’s surface, followed by green and yellow just below the dermis, while the red and near-infrared wavelengths travel deeper, with CurrentBody stating that its 1072nm deep near-infrared light can penetrate up to 10mm.
I’ve had genuinely good results from CurrentBody’s LED masks since 2022, particularly in reducing the appearance of my fine lines and sun spots, so I’m not approaching Series 3 as someone completely new to LED therapy. The question I’m trying to answer with this review is whether the additional wavelengths, LEDs and personalization make enough of a difference to justify choosing Series 3 or upgrading from an earlier CurrentBody mask.

CurrentBody Series 3 LED Mask: What’s New & What Has Changed?
CurrentBody LED Mask Series 3 combines six wavelengths with 750 LEDs and introduces CurrentBody’s MyDose™ technology, which allows you to build your treatment LED by LED, choosing both the wavelengths and where they’re used on your face. MyDose then calculates the appropriate dose for the treatment you’ve created, and you can save your personalized treatments in the CurrentBody app to use again or share with others. CurrentBody describes Series 3 as the first fully customizable, app-connected LED mask, and for me, this level of personalization is the biggest difference between Series 3 and the CurrentBody masks I’ve used previously.

MyDose™
One of the most important things I learned while researching Series 3 is that when it comes to LED therapy, more isn’t necessarily better. A little bit of science: Photobiomodulation has what’s known as a biphasic dose response, which means there’s a therapeutic window. Too little light may not produce the desired response, but increasing the dose beyond the optimal range doesn’t necessarily produce better results and can actually inhibit the biological response you’re trying to stimulate. So simply looking for the mask with the highest power or assuming more light must equal better results misses an important part of how LED therapy works.

That’s what makes MyDose™ particularly interesting. Rather than simply giving every LED maximum power, you choose the wavelengths and their placement and MyDose automatically calculates and adjusts the energy output for that personalized treatment. CurrentBody says Veritace® ensures the LEDs deliver the intended wavelengths accurately, while MyDose controls how much light energy is delivered. In other words, Series 3 isn’t just about adding more LEDs or more wavelengths. It’s about delivering the right wavelengths, in the right places, at the appropriate dose.

Presets
There are also four preset treatments if you don’t want to create your own: Advanced Anti-Aging, Advanced Clearing, Complexion Corrector and Balance & Brighten. So you don’t need to understand all six wavelengths or build a treatment from scratch to use Series 3. You can simply choose the preset that best matches your skin concerns.
Custom CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask Treatment
If you do want more control, you can create and save up to eight custom treatments, building each one LED by LED based on your own skin concerns. I can choose the wavelengths I want and literally “paint” them onto the areas of my face I want to target in the app, while MyDose™ calculates the appropriate dose for the treatment I’ve created. Veritace® then verifies that the LEDs are delivering the intended wavelengths accurately. I love that I get all of the fun of playing around with the colors and creating a treatment that feels completely personalized, without having to understand or calculate the technical dosing myself.

CurrentBody Series 3 LED Mask Presets
If all of that customization sounds like too much work, you don’t actually have to create your own protocol. Series 3 has four preset modes:
1. Advanced Anti-Aging
This uses the anti-aging wavelengths for concerns including fine lines, wrinkles and firmness.

2. Advanced Clearing
Designed for blemish-prone skin and visible spots.

3. Complexion Corrector
Targets concerns including pigmentation and uneven-looking skin tone.

4. Balance & Brighten
Designed around complexion concerns including visible redness and brightness.

I like having all of these options. The presets make Series 3 easy to use when I don’t want to think about creating a treatment, while customization is what makes the device feel more advanced when I have something specific I want to target.
My personalized CurrentBody Series 3 treatment
This is probably my favorite Series 3 feature so far and the part that makes the new mask feel genuinely different in everyday use. I’ve only used each of the four presets once to test them. The rest of the time, I’ve personalized my MyDose treatment in the app and synced it with the mask, as that’s where I feel I’m getting the most benefit and can really target what my skin needs that day, especially with the hormonal breakouts and redness I’ve been getting.
When I first started testing mine, I had a breakout by my eyebrow and another on my chin. Rather than using blue light across my entire face, I customized my treatment to use blue specifically on those areas only. I then selected all three red wavelengths across my face and used yellow and green around my nose and cheeks. That meant I wasn’t giving every area of my face exactly the same treatment simply because it happened to be under the same mask.

CurrentBody LED Mask Series 3 lets you select wavelengths and their placement based on your concerns, while MyDose calculates the light dose for the resulting treatment. I actually find it fun to do. It’s a bit like paint by numbers, but for your skin concerns. You can then save your personalized protocol in the app for future sessions and even share it with a friend who’s also using Series 3. If you have similar skin concerns to me and want to try my custom treatment, use code V3ULS in the CurrentBody app.
For me, that’s a much more compelling upgrade than simply saying a new mask has more LEDs or more power. Skin isn’t necessarily uniform across your entire face, and mine certainly isn’t from one day to another. Being able to change my treatment when my skin changes is the Series 3 feature I’m most excited to continue testing.
How does CurrentBody MyDose work?
MyDose is new to Series 3 LED mask and is really the technology behind its customization. In the CurrentBody app, you select which wavelengths you want and where you want them used. CurrentBody describes this as LED-by-LED control rather than simply selecting one wavelength for the entire mask. You can then save your personalized treatment and sync it to your LED mask, which makes this much more practical than having to recreate your LED configuration every time.
One thing I want to make clear is that Veritace isn’t new to Series 3. CurrentBody introduced its Veritace LED testing with Series 2. Series 3 retains that technology while adding MyDose and significantly expanding the treatment customization.

CurrentBody Series 3 LED Mask Wavelengths Explained: What Each Light Does
Series 3 has six clinically recognized wavelengths compared with three on Series 2 and two on the original Series 1.
The three wavelengths returning from Series 2 are 633nm red, 830nm near-infrared and 1072nm deep near-infrared which are the three I care about most of the time since they’re the ones that primarily target the signs of aging like fine lines, wrinkles and discoloration. Series 3 adds 415nm blue, 532nm green and 590nm yellow.

CurrentBody also has independent testing behind several of the wavelengths. Its published testing reports, among other findings, a 4.1% reduction in the appearance of pigmentation after eight weeks with 532nm green light, an 8.6% reduction in the appearance of redness among participants with higher baseline redness after eight weeks using 590nm yellow, and a 37.1% reduction in the appearance of wrinkles after eight weeks using 1072nm deep near-infrared. These are CurrentBody’s study results rather than my personal Series 3 results.
CurrentBody LED Red Light Therapy Face Mask: Series 3 – Fit, Comfort & What It Feels Like to Wear
The Series 3 is the same silicone design and fit as Series 2 and comes with the optional black rubber eye inserts. I prefer flexible silicone masks over hard shell masks for comfort, coverage and because it makes them easy to travel with. I also like the updated controller. The LED screen makes it easy to see what I’m doing, and I can select, start, pause and stop my treatment from the controller.
Series 3 vs Series 2 vs Series 1: Key Differences Explained
I don’t want to turn this into a giant CurrentBody mask comparison because Series 3 is the focus of this review, but having used the previous generations gives me a useful reference point for deciding whether the changes actually matter.
| Features | Series 1 | Series 2 | Series 3 |
| Wavelengths | 2 | 3 | 6 |
| LED count | 132 | 236 | 750 |
| Red | 633nm | 633nm | 633nm |
| Near-infrared | 830nm | 830nm | 830nm |
| Deep near-infrared | No | 1072nm | 1072nm |
| Blue | No | No | 415nm |
| Green | No | No | 532nm |
| Yellow | No | No | 590nm |
| Veritace | No | Yes | Yes |
| MyDose | No | No | Yes |
| Personalized wavelength placement | No | No | Yes |
| Presets | No | No | 4 |
| App personalization | No | No | Yes |
CurrentBody’s current comparison lists Series 1 at 132 LEDs, Series 2 at 236 and Series 3 at 750. Series 1 and 2 have a listed irradiance of 30mW/cm², while Series 3 can operate up to 40mW/cm² depending on treatment.
Series 3 vs Series 2: Is the New Mask Better?
Yes, and for multiple reasons. I’ve been really impressed with the updates from my first session. On features, Series 3 is clearly the more advanced mask. Whether it’s worth upgrading if you already own Series 2 is a slightly different question.
Series 2 is still the mask I’ve had experience and results with over time, and it already has the three wavelengths I’d prioritize for an anti-aging-focused routine. It also already has Veritace.
Series 3 makes more sense as an upgrade if you want to address a broader mix of concerns, particularly if pigmentation, visible redness or blemishes matter to you alongside fine lines and firmness, or if you specifically want the ability to personalize where different wavelengths are used.
That’s where I’m seeing the biggest difference so far and why the upgrade makes sense and is worth it to me.

How I’m testing the CurrentBody Series 3 Mask
I’m treating this as a long-term review rather than trying to manufacture a dramatic final verdict after a month of use, as I really want to share the long-term benefits like I did with the other Series. I’ll continue using Series 3 consistently and update this article with my results and before-and-after photos. So subscribe to get my Series 3 updates and before-and-after results as soon as they’re live.
CurrentBody recommends 10-minute sessions three to five times per week and says visible results can be seen from around four weeks, with many of its clinical studies measuring results over eight weeks.
Because I’ve already used CurrentBody LED masks for years, I’m particularly interested in whether I notice a difference from the additional wavelengths and personalized treatments rather than simply whether LED works for my skin. I already know from my previous masks that LED is something that works for me and that I’ve continued to use long after the novelty wore off.
Does Currentbody LED Mask Series 3 Work? My Before and After Results
I’ll update this review with more of my own results once I’ve used Series 3 for long enough to make a meaningful comparison but I’m already seeing a more even skin tone, especially with the redness that’s normally along my T-Zone. For reference I’m 46 and have no botox or injectables besides lip filler. The photos below show March 2026 (top of each photo) vs September 2026 (bottom of each photo): My CurrentBody LED Results using Series 2 throughout the year + 1 month using Series 3.

Is the CurrentBody Series 3 LED Mask worth it? My review so far
After a month of testing, I absolutely love my CurrentBody Series 3 LED mask. Having used every generation since 2022, this feels like the biggest upgrade yet, and it’s the customization that really makes the difference for me.
I love being able to open the CurrentBody app and create a treatment based on what my skin actually needs, rather than using the same settings across my entire face every time. I’m not just concerned about fine lines and wrinkles. I also have sun spots, uneven pigmentation and occasional breakouts, so being able to target different concerns and areas with different wavelengths makes Series 3 feel like a genuinely multitasking mask rather than just an anti-aging device.
I can see myself getting so much use out of this flexibility. After summer, I might want to focus more on pigmentation and incorporate green light into my treatments. If I have a breakout, I can add blue light where I need it. And since fine lines and firmness are always my main priorities, I can customize my treatment accordingly. I particularly appreciate that I can save and adjust my treatments in the app as my skin changes.

It’s not just about having more LEDs or wavelengths, either. CurrentBody’s MyDose technology calculates the light dose for your selected wavelengths and treatment areas, so personalization isn’t simply a case of switching everything on at maximum intensity.
Which CurrentBody LED Mask Should You Get
If you’re buying your first CurrentBody LED mask and your budget allows, Series 3 is the one I’d choose. You’re getting a device that can adapt to different skin concerns rather than one focused primarily on anti-aging for just $100 more.
If you already own Series 2, love it and are only focused on anti-aging, I don’t think you need to rush out and replace it, particularly if fine lines and firmness are your main concerns. I’ve had great results with mine and still love it. However, for someone like me who wants to address several skin concerns with one device, the additional customization makes Series 3 an upgrade I’m genuinely excited about.
I’m still early in my Series 3 journey, so I’ll continue updating this review with longer-term results and before-and-after photos. But after a month of testing, I’m already sold on the versatility. The ability to customize my treatments in the app, address multiple skin concerns and adapt my routine as my skin changes is what makes Series 3 so exciting to me.
CurrentBody LED Neck and Decolleté Perfector Mask Series 3
And now, of course, I want the matching neck and décolleté mask! I absolutely love my CurrentBody Neck and Décolleté Perfector, and it’s become an important part of my LED skincare routine. The Series 3 version is firmly on my wishlist. Having the same advanced technology and personalization options for my neck and chest would be the perfect complement to my face mask.

Shop the CurrentBody Series 3 LED Face Mask
I’ve used CurrentBody LED Red Light Therapy Face Masks since 2022, and this is the brand’s biggest face-mask update I’ve tested so far. If you’re deciding specifically between Series 2 and Series 3, I’d choose Series 3 for the extra wavelengths and personalized treatments rather than simply because it’s the newest model, and if you can swing it to buy the Series 3 neck and dec mask too I recommend doing so as it’s cheaper to buy them at the same time than separately.
CurrentBody Series 3 FAQs
How many wavelengths does the CurrentBody Series 3 mask have?
Series 3 has six wavelengths: blue at 415nm, green at 532nm, yellow at 590nm, red at 633nm, near-infrared at 830nm and deep near-infrared at 1072nm.
How many LEDs are in the CurrentBody Series 3 mask?
The Series 3 face mask has 750 LEDs. For comparison, CurrentBody lists 236 LEDs for Series 2 and 132 for Series 1.
What’s the biggest difference between CurrentBody Series 2 and Series 3?
Series 2 has three wavelengths, while Series 3 has six. Series 3 also adds MyDose, app-based personalization, four presets and the ability to choose the placement of different wavelengths across the face. Both Series 2 and Series 3 use CurrentBody’s Veritace LED testing.
What is CurrentBody MyDose?
MyDose allows you to select wavelengths and their placement while the technology automatically calculates the light dose for your personalized session. Treatments can be created and saved through the CurrentBody app.
Can I create my own treatment with CurrentBody Series 3?
Yes. This is one of the biggest Series 3 upgrades. You can select which wavelengths you want and where you want them positioned on your face, with MyDose calculating the dose. You can also save personalized protocols in the CurrentBody app.
How often should you use the CurrentBody Series 3 LED mask?
CurrentBody recommends using the face mask for 10 minutes, three to five times per week.
When will I see results from CurrentBody Series 3?
CurrentBody says visible results may be seen from around four weeks with consistent use, while several of its independent studies assess results over eight weeks. I’m still testing my Series 3, so I’ll update this review with my own longer-term results rather than attributing CurrentBody’s clinical results to my experience.
Is CurrentBody Series 3 LED mask worth upgrading to from Series 2?
Based on my initial experience, I’d consider upgrading primarily for the personalization and additional wavelengths, not simply because Series 3 is newer. If you want blue, green and yellow light alongside red, near-infrared and deep near-infrared, or want to customize where each wavelength is used, Series 3 offers substantially more flexibility than Series 2. My final verdict will be updated once I’ve completed longer-term testing.
