If you’re looking for Tucson hotels with charm and history be sure to check out Hotel Lodge On The Desert
Lodge on the Desert is a 3 star hotel in Tucson Arizona that far surpasses its 3 star ratings here’s why. This pet friendly Tucson hotel is located in mid-town Tucson and really embodies the Southwest charm from the decor and landscaping to the food but does it live up to it’s 4.5/5 star Lodge on the Desert reviews. Here’s my honest and unsponsored review of their rooms, facilities and restaurant.

Lodge On The Desert amenities
Lodge On The Desert Tucson has quite a lot of amenities for a 3 star hotel including:
- Free overnight parking (uncovered).
- Free wifi which was pretty strong.
- A pretty pool with waterfalls.
- Hot tub.
- Games room with a chess board.
- Various seating areas throughout the property.
The biggest downfall was that there is no gym at this hotel. You can ask the front desk for fitness passes to the Randolph Recreation Center which is a 2 minute drive or 12 minute walk. However, I didn’t have a car and it was too hot to walk.
Lodge On The Desert rooms
Our ground floor casita room was spacious, clean, tidy and spacious and the pillows were comfortable.
There are plenty of towels and face cloths which are super thick and soft. There was also dressing gowns, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner.
When checking in or making a reservation, request a room away from the main road. Unfortunately, we were on the road side, so it was pretty loud. The other downside was that the mattress was beyond firm and there were ants in the room.
Lodge On The Desert restaurants
There is one restaurant at Lodge On The Desert hotel that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner as the menu was too spicy for me but I did try the breakfast buffet one day which was disappointing.
When I got there just before 8am there was one slice of bread left, a few pieces of fruit and some scraps of eggs. They replaced the fruit salad but it took 25 minutes for the scrambled eggs to come out. They were pretty inedible so I stuck to the fruit which was good and coffee which was terrible.
So if you’re in a rush, skip breakfast here. I have heard other people say the breakfast here is good. So maybe I caught them on an off day.
Would we stay again
Would we stay again? I loved the vibe and charm of Lodge On The Desert and wish I’d had time to use the pool. However, since there was no gym at the hotel, there was only 1 bathroom sink which had no counter space and was too high, we’ll find somewhere else next time but that’s not to say don’t give it a go. It has lots of good selling points.
