COOLA V Bare Republic Mineral SPF Suncare Review
Cruelty-free sunscreen SPF protection is getting easier to find and Bare Republic sunscreen and Coola Sunscreen are 2 of my long time favorites but which is better? Coola or Bare Republic? I’m sharing everything in this Bare Republic and Coola sunscreen review. I was excited to finally find a non-sticky sunscreen that didn’t make me look like a ghost or choke me! I also wanted to try the Bare Republic baby sunscreen for even more coverage because more is more when it comes to finding the best cruelty free sunscreen protection. Is Bare Republic cruelty free? Yes and so is Coola.
Living in Las Vegas, competing at Mrs. United States in Orlando Florida in the middle of summer and Caribbean vacations all mean a lot of time in and on the water. This meant I really got to put these cruelty-free sunscreens to the test, as my skin and makeup had a lot of heat, humidity and wind to deal with.

Yes both Bare Republic and Coola are cruelty-free. I’m really particular about my skincare, especially SPF to protect my skin from aging, sunspots and environmental damage, and all sunscreens and after-sun care products are definitely not created equally! Especially when it comes to ingredients.
I also never go in the sun without a giant hat and sunglasses; normally my tan’s a cheat from an organic spray tan or self-tanner rather than the real deal.
Bare Republic and Coola Sunscreen Review
Originally, I fell in love with COOLA SPF organic sunscreen at Taste of Preakness where they were offering to spray us to prevent us from burning and the Pinã Colada scent alone was enough to win me over. Although not burning was plus too! I had also come across Bare Republic sunscreen spray and product line and wanted to put it to the test due to the fact they are formulated for the active eco-conscious lifestyle.
Here’s my comprehensive Bare Republic and Coola sunscreen review of some of their products. I can’t recommend both Bare Republic Mineral Sunscreen and Coola SPF highly enough, especially at the price point they sell at.

SPF50 Bare Republic Mineral Sunscreen Lotion Baby
Bare Republic sunscreen ingredients are free of active chemical sunscreens, water resistant.
This mineral sunscreen is a really thick, white lotion so if you’re an adult less is more! I love using baby sunscreen, especially as Bare Republics offers extra sensitive broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection that’s free of active chemical sunscreens and synthetic fragrances.
Although it has a thicker consistency, it didn’t make me break out and the avocado oil, shea butter and aloe vera extract is ultra-hydrating and soothing to skin. This made it perfect for days out on the boat where my skin was dealing with both sun, wind and salt water.

All of Bare Republics ingredients are well thought out, with the addition of Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil which is abundant in Vitamins A, D and E content and also added vitamin E. All of which helps to protect skin from damage by the sun and free radicals. It’s not a sunscreen I’d use everyday or under makeup but for days out on the water, sunbathing and for babies and infants it’s perfect.
Best cruelty free sunscreens – Bare Republic Clearscreen® SPF 50 Sport Sunscreen Spray review
Possibly the holy grail of sunscreens!
I’m fair skinned and burn really easily, plus being concerned about sun damage and aging I always like to use a high SPF year round. This is an ultra-lightweight Clearscreen spray with an amazing coconut mango scent, that goes on clear, is easy to apply and about as natural as sunscreen gets. The tropical scent is delicious and will now always remind me of this vacation and bring back great memories.
Bare Republic sports spray is rich in plant- derived ingredients, and provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. As well as 80 minutes of water resistance for all your adventures, which is why it tops my best cruelty free sunscreen list.
We were in and out of the water all day and didn’t get burnt. Be sure to reapply throughout the day though, especially on areas you normally catch the sun the most; for me that’s always my bust and booty.

Coola sunscreen review
COOLA Daydream™ SPF 30 Mineral Primer
We live in Vegas, I competed at Mrs. United States in Orlando, Florida and just got back from St Thomas so my makeup had a lot of heat and humidity to put up with! I’m really fussy about my primers (actually I’m just particular in general and know what I like and don’t).
I don’t like sunscreens when they’re too thick, pile, or make makeup peel off or feel greasy. Coola SPF is weightless and describes itself as “a multitasking best friend for radiant-looking skin and makeup all day long”.
The formula is impressively lightweight and creates a smooth base for makeup (or bare skin). It also pulls double duty as sunscreen with Plant Protection® and mineral broad spectrum SPF 30.
Does SPF Primer make a difference?
I really noticed the difference this SPF primer made to my makeup, especially as I was having a lot of photos taken including close ups (yuk).
The lightweight texture definitely seemed to offer a photo-reflective appearance to blur fine lines, even out skin tone and minimize pores. I also noticed it helped my makeup to last longer, especially when used with a setting spray to finish.
As with any SPF protection, it won’t last all day (all SPFs need topping up), it’s easy enough to do so either by reapplying the primer if you’re going bare faced or spritzing with an SPF setting spray or powder.
Coola Daydream Primer Features:
• A light scent of: Iris, White Lily, & Honeysuckle Plant Stem Cells
• Ideal for All Skin Types and Tones
• Photo-Reflective Properties
• Natural Mineral Active Ingredients
• Water Resistant (40 minutes)
• Preservative Free
• No Nano-Sized Particles
• Unscented
Radical Recovery After-Sun Lotion by COOLA $32
Environmental repair plus. ‘Replenishes, renews and moisturizes.’
Ok, so this is an aftersun and not a sunscreen but it’s still part of our sun care routine. My husband and I both loved this after-sun lotion. We always try and share products when traveling so that we take as little as possible with us.
It smells divine; citrusy fresh from the sweet orange with a relaxing hint of lavender. Our skin thanked us for using this.
The consistency of this aftersun is thick but it absorbs well and leaves skin moisturized and glowing without being oily. It prevented our skin from any hint of dryness all vacation, even on our more sun exposed areas.
Another bonus is that 70% of the total ingredients are from organic farming. This is definitely the new staple in our summer skincare products.
Which is the best cruelty free sunscreen? Coola vs Bare Republic Conclusion
All in all, both Coola and Bare Republic Mineral Sunscreen products are well priced, environmentally friendly, effective, reliable, beautifully scented and will have me trying more of their lines and coming back again and again. They’re the best cruelty free sunscreens I’ve found so far and I’ve tried quite a few!
Thank you Coola and Bare Republic for keeping my skin safe and moisturized this summer.
