I compared 3 luxury skincare brands to find the best anti-aging face serum for you
So many claim to be the best anti aging serum, so I’ve spent all year putting lots to the test. I’ve narrowed it down to 3 popular anti-aging luxury face serums that stood out for different reasons, both good and bad. The 3 I’m reviewing are Dior Prestige La Micro-Huile De Rose Advanced Serum, Dr Diamond Metacine Instafacial collection and 111Skin Black Diamond serum. They’re all around the same price point, over a whopping $500, but all have very different ingredients and give different results. Here are my thoughts on each so you can decide which is the right one for you. Spoiler alert, when using 2 of them people started complimenting my skin, whereas 1 of them no one said a thing! So before you splurge, read on and decide whether or not they’re worth it and which one’s right for you.

Dior Prestige La Micro Huile De Rose Advanced Serum | Best anti aging serum for glowing, volumized skin
Dior Prestige La Micro Huile De Rose Advanced Serum was the 1st serum I used this year. It costs $350-550 depending on the size you get and is suitable for all skin types.
I’ve done a full length review of this Dior serum before but in case you missed it, Dior Prestige La Micro-Huile De Rose Advanced serum is made with 10,000 micro-pearls enriched with revitalizing rose micro-nutrients and revitalizing power of Rose sap which is 4 X more potent than retinoic acid for revitalizing the skin. It was designed as an anti-aging serum to plump, replenish, firm, hydrate and lift.
I didn’t love the price but I did love so many other things about this luxury face serum: how pretty the bottle is, how good it smells, how easily absorbed it is and how silky it leaves skin feeling but the biggest thing I noticed was how glowing and plump my skin looked. It’s one of the few face serums I’ve used where I’ve actually seen a difference. And not just me. Friends started complimenting my skin and asking what I was doing differently.
If you’re looking for a luxury serum that volumizes, plumps, hydrates and creates glowing skin this would be my top pick. In all honesty I haven’t repurchased it as I rarely repurchase things as I’m always trying new things to share with you but it is definitely something I would consider coming back to. It’s just a hard price tag to swallow!
Dr Diamond’s Metacine Instafacial | Best anti aging serum for more refined texture and age spots
Dr Diamond’s Metacine Instafacial is another luxury serum I’ve reviewed before. It’s designed for skin rejuvenation as is suitable for all skin types. It sounds expensive until you break it down. Ok, it’s still expensive but not as expensive as it sounds. As it’s not really a serum, you can buy the plasma serum on it’s own, but it’s designed as a 2 step system: plasma and emulsion, designed to work synergistically together and replace your entire skincare routine minus SPF.
So, yes Metacine costs $595 but that’s for 2 products designed to replace your entire skincare routine. These 2 products are multitaskers that work as your eye cream, retinol, serum and moisturizer versus something like 111skin black diamond skincare which if you buy the whole 5 step skincare routine is just under $3000 before tax!
Dr. Diamond’s Metacine INSTAFACIAL® PLASMA Bioactive Growth Factor Serum
Metacine INSTAFACIAL® PLASMA Bioactive Growth Factor Serum is a skin rejuvenating serum designed to mimic platelet-rich plasma – PRP – with human-identical, bioengineered growth factors to accelerate cellular repair. It also has 9 Bioactive Peptides & Sodium Hyaluronate they claim gives firmer, tighter, & luminous skin.
Dr. Diamond Metacine INSTAFACIAL® EMULSION RETINOPRO Growth Factor Night Cream
The Dr. Diamond Metacine INSTAFACIAL® EMULSION RETINOPRO Growth Factor Night Cream is also designed for skin rejuvenating but you only use it at night. It’s formulated with a synergistic blend of non-irritating Bioactive Retinoids which didn’t dry or irritate my skin like normal retinoids, Bioidentical Growth Factors, Peptides, Niacinamide, and a novel Hyaluronic Acid Complex to support cell renewal & collagen production.
This is another luxury anti-aging serum where people started complimenting my skin. Metacine didn’t leave it glowing, luminous or plumped like the Dior prestige serum but my fine lines were a lot less deep and noticeable, my pores were much smaller and my skin just looked a lot smoother and more refined. So if they’re your main concern is a more refined texture this is perfect.
A little goes a long way. I only use 3 drops of the plasma and 1 pump of the emulsion.
111Skin black diamond serum | Luxury face serum with a luxury price tag!
111Skin black diamond serum is what I’m using right now. It’s another luxury anti-aging serum designed for mature skin and is suitable for combination, dry, or oily skin. This serum is designed to target laxity lines, sculpt, and firm skin for a younger-looking appearance.
The main active ingredients in 111Skin serum are a potent Microalgae Extract that helps lift and tighten skin. NovoRetin which is a natural alternative to Retinol and NAC Y2 which is 111SKIN’s proprietary complex made up of Vitamin C, Escin and NAC which is designed to promote the production of glutathione, support healthy collagen production and improve elasticity. All of these ingredients are supposed to be enhanced by their signature Black Diamond Technology which helps deliver these active ingredients.
111skin black diamond serum review
Pros: A little goes a long way as you only need to use 1-2 pumps, it didn’t dry my skin out like traditional retinoids, it leaves skin smooth and makes a good canvas for makeup, but then again so does a $20 primer. So that’s where the pros end for me.
Cons: My skin didn’t feel hydrated and I haven’t noticed any benefits or changes in my skin whatsoever. I’m really disappointed in this luxury serum, so it’s not one I’d repurchase as I just can’t justify the price for the results I’m getting.
111Skin Black Diamond serum is also the most expensive of all of these luxury skincare brands at a whopping $600 for the serum. Stack that on top of the 5 step skincare system they recommend and you’re looking at over $3000 after tax! I don’t care how wealthy you are, that is a ridiculous amount to spend on skincare. For that amount I could have a clinical treatment or course of treatments on my skin like laser rejuvenation, plasma lifting, microneedling, etc and see much more dramatic results.
