Where to stay in Grand Case Saint Martin | Is Bleu Emeraude Residence a good choice
Bleu Emeraude hotel AKA Bleu Emeraude residence is one of the few 5 star Grand Case beach hotels in Saint Martin. Not only is it in Grand Case but it’s directly on Grand Case Beach which means direct beach access and magnificent views. In this Bleu Emeraude hotel review I’m covering all of the basics. As well as why we choose this Saint Martin hotel and would we recommend staying here?

Why we chose to stay on Grand Case Beach Saint Martin
What’s the best hotel in Saint Martin? We stayed at the beach hotel Bleu Emeraude in Saint Martin which is on Grand Case Beach on the French Side of St. Martin.
From visiting numerous times before, we knew we wanted to stay on the French side and Grand Case has always been our favorite beach. It’s long, beautiful, there’s no tall chain hotels and the waters clear, warm and calm.
We chose this Grand Case beach hotel in Saint Martin because of their large private balconies and decks and that it had direct beach access. It was also walking distance to most of the Grand Case beach clubs. Like Rainbow Cafe, where we went everyday for lunch.
Bleu Emeraude Hotel Review | 5 Star Hotel, Grand Case Saint Martin
From breakfast to the service, amenities to location, and our room tour, here’s an honest Bleu Emeraude Hotel review. Including both the pros and cons.
We stayed in the Bleu Emeraude Deluxe One Bedroom which is on the ground floor. We chose this room because It had the largest balcony and terrace, and direct beach access.
It’s a large suite with a bedroom, bathroom, separate kitchen and living area which is a beautiful bright room. Luckily there are black out shutters on the living room.
The bedroom has a large closet, dresser drawers, large bed, side tables and air conditioning (which is in the entire unit). The mattresses are hard so if you’re used to a soft bed it might be an adjustment.
The kitchen has everything you could possibly need including a microwave oven, electric kettle, toaster, fridge freezer and washing machine.
The only downside was that there wasn’t a separate toilet, it was in the bathroom and that if you like a soft bed these are very hard. However, the bathrooms are large and the bathroom amenities include:
- Walk-in shower with both a hand held and rainfall shower.
- Double sinks.
- Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, towels and a hairdryer.
Luckily I always pack a lighted makeup mirror as the bathroom mirror was too high for me to be able to use for my makeup.
Bleu Emeraude Grand Case review | Location
We really appreciated the location of Bleu Emeraude residence at the far end of Grand Case Beach Saint Martin which really is the most beautiful beach. We went off season and only saw 3 other hotel guests the whole 4 nights we were there.
Being at that end of the beach meant it was very quiet and the beach felt private (at least it was when we went in late June). It’s also going to be hard to beat the excellent view from this residence.
Bleu Emeraude residence provides sun loungers, umbrellas, tables and beach towels right in front of the hotel which is really nice. We never had anyone else laying out with us at the beach and there is nothing next door on one side and what looks like another residences on the other side.
While Grand Case beach is absolutely stunning, from the clean white sands to the crystal waters don’t expect the beach to be lined with luxury properties. Unfortunately the island was hit incredibly hard with hurricanes and it’s taking a long time and great expense to rebuild.
Bleu Emeraude Review | Restaurants & bars
There are no bars or restaurants at Bleu Emeraude. There is a free breakfast. However, they say ‘free continental breakfast’ but it was just a small basket of pastries and bowl of apples and oranges left on the counter on the 1st floor common area from 8am-10am for you to help yourself.
This was one feature I really missed. As I was really expecting breakfast to be served or at least have somewhere to sit and eat but you have to take your food back to your room as there are no tables or seating. There is a wine fridge on the 1st floor if you want to purchase wine or champagne.
Luckily it’s only a short walk to the closest restaurants and mini marts in Grand Case. It’s about a 5-minute walk along the beach or road to several bars and restaurants on Grand Case Beach.
I’d recommend the beach route as it’s more scenic and there’s not a pavement/sidewalk for most of the walk if you go via the road. We always took a taxi to the restaurants at night on Boulevard Grand Case because it was so hot and humid and we would have arrived as puddles.
You could also do one of the car rentals the hotel offers if you want to do more day trips or drive yourself. As there is free parking at Bleu Emeraude hotel.
Bleu Emeraude review | Service & amenities
The only service is the front desk manager who also acts as concierge and housekeeping. The welcoming staff are very kind, helpful and quick to assist but the front desk hours are limited: 8am-12 and 3-6pm. I can not fault housekeeping. Our room was always spotless. the toiletries always topped up and towels fresh.
Amenities and additional features:
- Free wi-fi and even a separate beach wifi for streaming music, etc.
- Free parking : Ground level and underground parking.
- Kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkeling equipment.
- Sun loungers, umbrellas and beach towels.
- Front desk concierge services (limited hours)
- Dry cleaning/laundry services
- Luggage storage
- Multilingual staff
On hotels.com it says there is a full service spa, there definitely isn’t. However, we booked the massage therapists the hotel recommended, Brian at A Touch of Handz and they came out to our room with cake and Prosecco.
Bleu Emeraude Saint Martin Check in and check out times
Check-in time is 3:00-6:00 PM with early check-in and late check-in subject to availability. Check-out time is 11:00 AM.
Is Bleu Emeraude Hotel a 5 Star Hotel
Bleu Emeraude hotel is more of a 5-star boutique residence than a 5 star hotel but because of the lack of breakfast, public areas and amenities like a pool, bar or gym I’d say it’s more of a 4-star hotel with 5 star views.
It’s great for any length of stay but especially extended stays as the kitchen in some of the units means you can cook for yourself.
We had a wonderful stay and it’s the perfect place if you’re looking for a relaxing get away and don’t mind having to go out for your meals. If you’re planning a Saint Martin Grand Case trip I’d still highly recommend this hotel for the great service, beautiful view and Grand Case beach location on the French side of St. Martin.
