GRLFRND denim is hot, here’s why we’re loving it & what I’m buying from Revolve & FWRD this Fall
GRLFRND jeans are one of those LA based denim brands you can’t have missed if you’ve been shopping for jeans or denim as they’re hot right now. The most popular item from this brand is their jeans, with lots of their denim like the GRLFRND Karolina jeans on Revolve’s ‘best seller’ lists. I’ve been taking a break from jeans but all of the hype had me wanting to try GRLFRND mid and high rise jeans for myself and take a break from my sweater dresses this Fall. The hardest part was narrowing down which pair to actually get but as a fashion editor that’s my job. So I read all of the reviews for each style and did the research so you don’t have to. Here’s what I’m ordering and my honest thoughts on this brands denim, fit, quality and aesthetic.

The jeans I’m wearing this season
Jeans are one of those closet basics that are so hit and miss. Getting the right fit, ones that don’t feel stiff or cut into all the wrong places can be a right mission. I’ve tended to always go with skinny jeans as I tend to style them with boots or stiletto pumps but this season I’m changing it up a little.
Not with super wide leg or low slung jeans but with a slightly looser fit that are less distressed. So that they’re a classic style I can wear for more than just as season. Which is why I’ve ordered the following. I’ll update this as soon as they come in:
- Sara high rise slim straight jeans as they’re a good option for a jean thats easy to dress up or down. I was torn between that and the Harlow but I don’t need 2 pairs split hem jeans.
- Hailey low rise boot cut with slit hem good option for looser style without looking too casual or slouchy. I don’t have any jeans with slits and ankle boots are back in this season.
- Harlow High Rise Boot Slit jeans.
I don’t personally love the Bella GRLFRND denim jeans as they’re too slouchy for me. I also don’t normally like cropped pants as they’re not flattering on my calfs and for my height but I’m tempted by the white high rise straight crop GRLFRND Karolina jeans to wear with flats.
GRLFRND Jeans Review
Here’s a quick video of the GRLFRND jeans review of grlfrnd Harlow High Rise Boot Slit jeans from Revolve. I’ve been on the hunt for the best jeans for ages so are these it? They’re my 1st pair of GRLFRND jeans so here’s my thoughts on sizing, quality and fit of grlfrnd jeans on a petite body type. I’ve linked all of the clothes I’m wearing in the video description.
GRLFRND jeans review | Harlow high rise
I ordered GRLFRND Harlow High Rise Boot Slit jeans with slit hems. As I don’t have any slit hem jeans and I like the idea of styling them with ankle boots or strappy heels that have details on the ankles like my black Balmain sandals.
I ordered them in my usual size and they fit like a glove on the waist and butt. Having read the reviews, I knew they’d be too long as even tall people said they ran long. Which is odd as the description says 32″ so I didn’t think they’d be as long as they are. I had them hemmed to be the right length with jeans and now the fit is perfection.
They feel soft and not too stiff and the quality reflects the price. This style is $225 which is expensive but not designer prices by any means. I feel like these jeans look pretty much the same in real life on me above as they do online on the model below bearing in mind I’m much shorter than the models online.
Are GRLFRND jeans good quality
Yes, I was impressed with both the fit and quality of GRLFRND jeans. I also prefer the zipper fly on these to some of the 5 button styles by Agolde.
How to style GRLFRND jeans
How you style GRLFRND denim jeans and dresses really depends on the style and cut of them but most of them are easy to dress up or down with flats, boots or heels.
Do GRLFRND jeans run true to size
I personally find that GRLFRND jeans run true to size but long. Buying jeans in person is hard enough. Little own trying to buy them online. What I love about Revolve and FWRD is the free shipping and returns. So if you’re unsure of what size to order start by reading the reviews at the bottom of the product page in regards to fit and then order a few sizes.
These are some things to look for when buying GRLFRND jeans online:
- Do they offer free returns or are you stuck with them?
- If you’re unsure of your size make sure they’re not final sale.
- Read buyers reviews to check others experiences with the fit for specific styles.
- Read the product description for the inseam.
- Check out the models stats and what size she’s wearing to help decide on what size to order.
What’s the difference between the GRLFRND jeans styles
Some of the GRLFRND denim jean styles can look really similar so here’s some more information on the most popular styles to help differentiate and decide between them. All of them are made in the USA, with a zip fly closure (I hate button flies as they’re so fiddly) and most of them don’t have much stretch.
GRLFRND Karolina High Rise Straight Crop jeans
GRLFRND Karolina High Rise Straight Crop jeans are one of their most popular styles. They’re a more casual style that works great with slides or flats for everyday even for us petite girls. They’re one of GRLFRND’s few styles come in a petite length which are 12.5″ at the knee and 12.5″ at the leg opening VS 15″ at the knee narrows to 14″ at the leg opening on the regular fit.
They come in black, white and various blue washes with both hemmed and frayed hem options.
Melanie jeans | high rise denim jeans
Melanie jeans are a high rise jean that comes in either a boot cut or flared silhouette. They come in a few colors including blue, black, white and burgundy in both distressed and more solid washes. They’re usually around $225 unless you get them on sale. Most reviews say this size runs small to true to size but don’t have much stretch.
Lengthwise, they’re 15.5″ at the knee breaks to 17.5″ at the leg opening on the bootcut style and 16″ at the knee breaks to 18″ at the leg opening on the flares. There’s no petite option so you might be cuffing them or limited to wearing them with heels if you’re petite.
Sara Super High Rise Slim Straight jeans
Sara Super High Rise Slim Straight jeans are a curve-hugging high waisted style with a slim straight fit that’s easy to dress up or down. The regular length is 17″ at the knee narrows to 16″ at the leg opening. They only come in blue washes and there is no petite fit.
Harlow High Rise Boot Slit hem
Harlow High Rise Boot Slit hem like the name suggests have a split hem and measure 14.5″ at the knee narrows to 14″ at the leg opening. People say this style runs true to size but long. So definitely a style to wear with your ankle boots or heels.
Bella Low Rise Boyfriend jeans
Unlike a lot of other GRLFRND denim styles, these are low rise. The length varies a lot by the color so definitely read the description for the specific color you’re looking at getting.
A lot of the reviews say that this style runs large but I feel like that’s part of the aesthetic of this particular style. They’re more of a casual everyday pair, you’d style with sneakers or flats VS some of their more high waisted, fitted styles.
GRLFRND Hailey Low Rise Boot With Slit Hem
Are another low rise style but they’re slightly more fitted than the Bella and also have a slit hem. Making them perfect to wear with boots for Fall and Winter.
