They’re still uber fashion forward and stylish but also super affordable. Finally a celebrity style we can copy without forking out a fortune and I’m not talking dupes. Who is JW Pei
JW Pei was founded in 2018 by husband and wife team Yang Pei and Stephanie Li and is actually a US based brand. With the name and pricing I thought it was from further afield but they’re actually a Los Angeles based fashion label.
What I love about this brand besides their fabulous designs is their commitment to using vegan leather made from recycled plastics for all of their JW Pei purses. Not only great for vegan shoppers and animals but also for minimizing the impact on the planet to be as environmentally responsible as possible.
Why are JW Pei bags so popular?
JW Pei quickly gained traction and the love of IG influencers, celebrities and fashion editors due to the fact that they’re statement making, super affordable, fashion forward, vegan and eco-conscious.
When you see a bag you love on a celeb or influencer most of the time they’re in the thousands. These beauties are pretty much all under $100 and they have lots of sale finds too!
What I love about JW Pei handbags and another reason they’re so popular amongst the fashion set is that they’re right on trend and anything but boring. 2 of their most popular styles are the Gabbi ruched hobo and the more structured Abacus bag. However, the JW Pei Maze, Eva shoulder bag, mini flap crossbody and retro looking Joy shoulder bag (based on Amazon sales and reviews) are also majorly popular.
I have the Elise top handle bag which is such a classic, sophisticated style on my wishlist. I tend to prefer more structured styles that work for both the day and night. Along with the JW PEI Joy shoulder bag which has a detachable strap meaning that you can wear it in lots of ways. As a shoulder bag, crossbody bag or clutch.
I’m also eyeing the Orla Weave handbag which is such a beautiful and intricate day to night bag. As you can see I’m a convert and have well and truly gone down the JW Pei rabbit hole so check back for updates. Oh and did I mention they do shoes and jewelry too!
JW Pei Gabbi bag review
This photo’s actually a couple of years old as I featured the Gabbi handbag back in 2022 when I was blogging about the green color trend. So if you’re worried this bag will date quickly, it’s still here and a celeb ‘it-bag’ 2 years later.
The beauty of the Gabbi bag is that it’s strap’s long enough to use the bag either as as shoulder bag or as a top handle bag. It’s also big enough to fit your iPhone and comes in 30 different colors including neutrals, bright pink, blue, and sparkly crystal versions. Plus it’s under $100.
JW Pei Abacus bag review
As soon as I saw the Abacus red crystal mini bag I had to have it as this and the other crystal iterations are perfect for the holiday season and the sparkly trend going on right now. However, this bag comes in 30 different colors and finishes including crystal, vegan leather and faux fur. So if the red crystal’s a bit much for you there are more simple options.
The quality is great for the price point, especially while it’s on sale. The only downside is it’s too small to fit the iPhone 15 pro but to be fair so are most mini bags. It does fit my ID, credit cards, lipstick, and keys, so all the important things.
