Tria 4X At-Home Laser Hair Removal Device: Does It Work, Is It Safe, and Laser VS IPL?
If you’ve ever wondered whether at-home laser hair removal actually works, I’ve been testing Tria 4X laser hair removal device for the past 90 days to find out. Unlike IPL devices, Tria uses true laser technology, which is more precise and designed to deliver longer-lasting results for permanent hair removal. To really test it properly, I used the Tria 4X on multiple areas including my underarms, bikini line, and legs. In this article, I’m sharing my honest 3-month review of the new Tria 4X 2nd generation, including my before-and-after results, whether it’s painful, how long treatments take, laser hair removal vs IPL, and whether it’s truly worth the investment. I’ll also share whether Tria 4X is the best at-home laser hair removal device, and don’t forget to use code EVED for 10% off your Tria laser hair removal device if you’re thinking of trying it yourself.

Why I switched to Tria laser hair removal at home vs shaving
I’ve been shaving for over 30 years, and it’s not just the time it takes, it’s the constant upkeep, traveling with a razor, dealing with ingrown hairs, and the fact it removes my self-tanner. After years of that routine, I started looking for a more permanent solution.
I’ve tried waxing, but I hate having to let the hair grow back before each appointment and making time to go to the salon. I also tried in-clinic laser hair removal more than 20 years ago, but at the time the technology wasn’t as effective for fairer hair. So when I discovered the Tria 4X Laser Hair Removal Device, the only at-home device that uses real laser technology rather than IPL, I was curious to see whether the technology had improved. As a Beauty Editor, I’m always testing new beauty devices and treatments to share the best options with you, so I decided to give it a try.

It’s also a lot less time consuming and a lot less expensive than going to a clinic to have it done. And having seen my results, I can’t imagine it being any better or faster, considering how ‘bald’ I am now.
Cost of Tria 4X VS salon laser hair removal:
Clinic laser: Underarms: $60–$150 per session | Full legs: $250+ per session | Bikini: $55-139. Total course: $800–$3500+
Tria 4X: $540.00 (with discoint EVED) One device – Unlimited treatments. This is definitely a money-saving investment.
What Makes Tria 4X Laser Hair Removal Device Different from IPL Hair Removal Devices
24 million people per year search for “laser hair removal” devices, but virtually all devices sold for at-home use are actually IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) devices and NOT true lasers. As mentioned before, the technology is fundamentally different. IPL hair removal does not provide the same clinical-grade, permanent results as laser hair removal. But creating an actual laser for at home use is not the easiest task. That’s why most devices you find on the market these days are IPL.
How At-Home Laser Hair Removal Works
TRIA 4X is the only laser hair removal device, for at home use. Strong, efficient, FDA approved, backed by clinical studies, and very easy to use. TRIA 4X is the only at-home device that uses real, clinical-grade laser technology. This gives you the permanent results you’re searching for. Unlike IPL devices, it delivers targeted laser energy that penetrates the follicle for genuine, lasting hair reduction. I know, having used it myself, just how convenient, safe and efficient it is to use.

What’s the difference between laser hair removal and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)? Tria 4X laser hair removal versus IPL
When comparing laser hair removal to IPL, the biggest difference comes down to precision and results. True laser hair removal uses a single, focused wavelength that targets the hair follicle much more effectively. In contrast, IPL relies on broad-spectrum light that disperses energy, often leading to less consistent results due to its lack of precision. This is why laser hair removal is generally more effective than IPL, especially when it comes to long-term hair reduction, fewer sessions, and more predictable outcomes, whether treatments are done in a clinic or with an at-home device. I was finally ready to ditch the razor for permanent hair removal. I was also interested to see if it actually works!
Here are the key differences between laser hair removal vs IPL:

Is Tria 4X the Best At-Home Laser Hair Removal Device?
I can honestly say, I’m so impressed by the results. It’s one thing knowing it’s backed by clinical studies, but it’s another seeing how well the TRIA 4X laser device performs even just after a few sessions. Here are some of the clinical trial results:
- Up to 100% hair reduction in 8 treatments†
- Visible results in 2 treatments (up to 75% hair reduction)††
- *Tria 4X is up to 233% more power than IPL.** More power = more hair removed.
†Based on user self assessment scores during an independent clinical trial of 21 participants.
††Based on independent clinical trial of 52 participants, subjects selected own fluence (low, medium or high). Expert assessed hair counts 3 weeks after each treatment.
*Permanent results are defined as ‘a permanent reduction in hair regrowth’. i.e. a long-term stable reduction in hair counts following a full course of laser treatments. **Based on maximum outputs outlined in User Manuals. Tria 4X at 20 J/cm2, Braun Silk i-Expert Pro 7 at 6.5 J/cm2 and Philips Lumea 9000 Series at 6 J/cm2.

So yes, I’d definitely consider Tria the best at-home laser hair removal device.
Tria 4X At Home Laser Hair Removal Review | 90 Day Before & After
In this video Tria review I’m covering if the Tria 4X Hair Removal Laser actually worth it? After 3 months of consistent use, these are my honest thoughts, the differences between true laser vs. IPL technology, how to use Tria 4X, is it painful, why I quit shaving, how long treatments actually take, and most importantly—my results after 7 sessions! If you’re tired of shaving and wondering if at-home laser hair removal actually works for permanent hair removal, watch this.
Does Tria 4X At-Home Laser Hair Removal Work? Benefits, Before and After Results
So the main benefit is obviously permanent hair removal and I’m so impressed with the results. I was tempted to stop after my 3rd session as I only had four hairs left under one armpit and three on the other, but the recommendations sessions are a treatment every 2 weeks for 3 months, and then 3 months with top-ups as needed. So I’m going to see it all the way through for the best possible results.

Sorry, I didn’t take before photos of my armpits or bikini line, no one wants to see that! However, I only treated one leg to be able to show you my before and after results there. The things I do to show you results and test to see if something actually works or not! Now to treat the other leg as I’m not planning on shaving one leg for the rest of my life!

The first session is a bit time consuming as you’re figuring out the device and making sure you hit every area and it’s the most painful as you have the most hairs then. But it does get quicker, I got it down to 15 minutes to treat my armpits, bikini line, and lower right leg (about 900 pulses).
The other benefits are that it’s cheaper than clinic hair removal, less time consuming than shaving and waxing and all of the other reasons I wanted to quit shaving I mentioned before, I’m always smooth and never stubbly, and my under arms are no longer grey!
Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?
This depends on what level you’re using on your Tria 4X laser hair removal device (it has 5 levels), how much hair you have, it’s color and thickness, and your pain tolerance. But there are things you can do to help, and the pain gets so much less with each treatment as there’s less hairs to zap.
To reduce the pain you can either use the Tria soothing and hydrating gel or reduce the power level. I didn’t use the gel and started around level 2. I could go up to level 5 in some areas, but some areas are definitely more spicy than others. But honestly, by the 4th treatment I was able to use it at power level 4-5 in most places.

Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?
Like most beauty treatments there are things you’re going to want to do to ensure safety e.g. using it only in the recommended areas at the suggested frequency. One of the Tria safety features I appreciate is the laser that tests if your skin tone is compatible to be able to even unlock the device to start your treatment. It won’t unlock if it isn’t.
