Bright colored mini knits check off 3 winter trends

1. Bright colors

Staying on trend from Fall, bright colors are sticking around for Winter. Versace showed some of the best monochromatic looks from bold yellows to bright pinks with towering platform heels and hair and makeup that had a totally retro feel.

Grey days always give me a little S.A.D so I’m loving this color therapy trend. Plus it brightens everyone else’s day too. Don’t worry about coordinating them, clashing colors like red and pink are right on trend.

2. Practical winter trend 2021 | Knits, knits and more knits

If Aprés ski was the trend for Fall, full on ski season is the trend for Winter 2021. Think oversized puffer coats, patterned knits and knit matching coord sets. Apres Ski is such a versatile trend that was iterated in so many different ways on the runway shows. From oversized sweater dresses with matching knot scarves and bags to turtleneck sweaters with cozy faux fur teddy coats.

3. Leather matching sets

Matching sets have been trending all year. From lightweight sets in Summer to midriff bearing knit sets in Fall to leather sets this Winter. We’ve done head to toe denim this year but head to toe leather is perfect for extra warmth this Winter. It’s not just black, think green, blues and neutrals from skirt sets to dresses and pant sets. The beauty being these pieces work just as well as separates and creating a plethora of looks. Thanks Hermès, Off-White and Givenchy for leading the way on this winter fashion trend.

4. Long leather gloves

I’ve been waiting for ladylike gloves to come back in fashion ever since Dua Lipa rocked long white leather gloves in Levitating and again this week after just watching the movie ‘The Last Letter From Your Lover’. I’ve always loved the glamorous retro looks from the 60’s and thinking now’s a great excuse to buy a pair.

Plus gloves are great for hiding nails that are overdue a manicure and my hands are always freezing! Wear them with a cap or 3/4 length sleeve to make the most of them and wait for the compliments to roll in. I’ve added a pair that works with touch screens if the thought of taking them on and off all of the time annoys you.

5. Long live metallics

The metallic trend that started this Fall is continuing into Winter. It’s an easier trend to pull off than you might think as it’s made for the holiday season. If you want to look less disco dive and more everyday, style a subtly metallic top with fitted jeans or a metallic sweater dress with knee high boots. Then switch up to a mini skirt for the night. Or grab this winter trend by the horns and go all out with your holiday party dresses this Winter.

This is an easy trend to combine with the sequin trend (below).

6. Sequins | The bling ring

While we’re talking of glam, party styles bring on the sequins. It’s another one of the major winter fashion trends 2021. The sparklier the better for this one and the pageant queen me is all over this trend.

Wear them with knee high boots and cozy faux fur coats to stay warm and fabulous all winter long.

7. Faux fur coats for the coziest Winter fashion

This is the coziest and most practical winter fashion trend for 2021. Grab a snuggly coat or one with a faux fur collar and you can update any of your winter outfits and give them an on trend look for Winter 2021.

8. Geometric prints (outfit or coat)

Think Argyle, houndstooth and tartan for prints for Winter 2021. Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen always do tartan so beautifully and well structured. It’s one of those patterns that always feels like the holiday season and classic. It’s a versatile piece you can build as much or as little into your wardrobe as you like. The British brand Holland and Cooper has some of my favorite tartan looks I’ve eyeing up this season including their dresses and coats.

9. Dark denim on denim

This is a winter trend that pretty much suits everyones tastes and styles and is perfect for everyday. The monochromatic head to toe dark denim also create the illusion of height which I’ll take as much of as I can get. Dark wash jeans give a more sophisticated look than paler washes and look smarter making them easy to dress up or down.

Grab a pair of dark high-rise skinny jeans or flares and style them with a matching top or mix and match with a trending sheer top for this winter fashion trend for 2021. Or style a dark denim dress over tights and knee high boots.

10. The unlikeliest Winter trend that’s everywhere | Regency era inspired sheer dresses & sheer layers

Sheer fabrics might seem more suited to Spring and Summer but they bring back the art of layering and give a feminine touch to sometimes stark winter styles. We’re seeing sheer gowns embellished with sequins, bows, roses and flowers.

The other way to wear this Bridgerton inspired winter trend is by layering pieces to create a really unique and more delicate look for the day or night. Try layering a sheer long sleeve top or skirt over camisoles, slip dresses, knitted fabrics or turtlenecks. This is a winter trend to have fun experimenting with.

11. Quilted & puffer coats

Quilted and puffer coats, bags and shoes have been having a major moment in 2021. So much so, I devoted an entire blog post to the quilted trend earlier in the year. I’ve been wearing quilted clothes and bags for years as Barbour coats and Chanel bags will always be a classics.

For Winter 2021/2022 more designers have jumped on the trend, as well as some more affordable brands to make this winter trend mainstream. Plus quilted jackets mean staying extra warm and snuggly in the colder months and get great cost per wear.

12. Mini skirts

If last year was shorts and tights, this year is the mini skirts turn. They’re easy to layer with tights and boots and I’m loving all of the pretty lilac and pink shades for winter fashion. For an edgier look, style your mini skirt or mini dress with chunky, thick sole biker boots.

13. Fringe

When it comes to fringing think more glamorous and 1920’s than western for this winter fashion trend for 2021/2022. Fringing is one of those trends that always comes back around so a bag is an easy way to jump on this winter trend and then circle back into your wardrobe again the next time it comes around. This look can be super sexy as shown by Karina Niguay.

14. Catsuits & Jumpsuits

I have quite the collection of jumpsuits as they’re so easy to throw on without having to coordinate a top and bottom and work in the Vegas winds. This versions for winter 2021 are a lot more fitted.

The fab thing about this winter fashion trend for 2021 is they’re just as easy to throw on with sneakers or flat boots and a jacket for the day as they are to dress up with high heel knee high boots and a belt for the evening. If you’re worried about it clinging in the wrong places a long line blazers easy to throw on over the top.

15. Feminine Winter trends 2021 | Feathers

You know how much I love my feminine styles and feathers are such a fun style. My issue is keeping them away from our cats and cleaning them. Back in my showgirl days, we’d take care of our feathers by just spot cleaning costumes.

Definitely follow the care instructions and if it’s hand wash, do it with baby shampoo. Lay them flat to dry on a towel you don’t care about as dyed feathers tend to bleed when wet.

To wear this feather winter trend for 2021 the feathers can adorn anything from hems to all over and be on coats, skirts or dresses. I’ve gone for a black blazer with just a small amount of feathers on the cuffs this Winter, so we’ll see how it does.
