I learned the hard way after a wardrobe malfunction in front of a live studio audience! Let me save you the painful embarrassment of a public womens wardrobe malfunction by sharing a few quick and easy tips on how to avoid nip slips with you.
Here’s a few things you need in your fashion kit to keep everything where it should be, prevent nip slips, bra malfunctions and to keep your pride in place. So that you can rock those summer styles and sheer materials worry free.

Nipple Covers

Every woman with prominent nipples, who gets cold easily, is going braless, is wearing thinner material, or something that might risk a nip slip needs silicone cover ups. Unless of course you’re showing them on purpose. Do you remember that 1 episode of Sex and the City with Sam and her fake nipples?! If that’s not the look you’re going for, then these are perfect to wear under anything.
Nipple cover ups are really useful for when you’re going braless or when it’s cold. As well as to cover everything up and create smooth lines. These cover ups are also reusable. Simply wash and dry after use and put them away for next time. They also come in 3 different colors for different skin tones, light, medium and dark.

The cover ups are a lighter option than silicone and great under thinner or sheerer fabrics to prevent nip slips and create smoother lines. Although they won’t give as much coverage as silicone, they’re a great option for when silicones too thick. You can get them in various colors, I like to stock up in all of them, black, white, and nude. Which means they’re completely undetectable under any color I wear.
I’ve shared a waterproof version at the bottom from Amazon which are great for wearing under swimsuits and bikinis. You can wear them with bikinis that don’t have any padding or lining. However, they will take off fake tanner if you have that on. So place them low enough that you won’t see where the tans been taken off the next day.

I discovered double sided tape years ago, back when neck lines plunged down to your waist and the only way to stop everything popping out was these bad boys. Double sided tape is your best friend when it comes to low cut tops, dresses and windy days.
Take it from a girl who lives in Las Vegas where we have crazy winds and am always trying to avoid nip slips and flashing. Plus they come in a tiny cute travel tin which you can throw in your purse. Which means you have back-ups if yours come unstuck or you have a friend in need.
How to Prevent Nip Slips & Womens Wardrobe Malfunctions
A few more tips to help keep everything in place including our pride and avoid a public wardrobe malfunction!
- Wear a bra or nipple covers and underwear whenever possible.
- Use nipple covers for sheer fabric.
- Use double sided tape to hold clothing in place.
- Buy clothes that fit.
- Avoid skirts on a windy day.
- Avoid loose tops and going braless on a windy day.
- Always have a safety pin(s) in your purse in case of a bra malfunction or broken strap.
- Use Bra strap clips for getting rid of bra straps.
- Take a photo of yourself with the flash on before you go out. This will check any clothing you think could be sheer.
