Does Dr Jason Diamond’s Metacine Instafacial live up to it’s anti-aging skincare promises as a luxury skincare routine that defies time?
Dr Diamond Metacine collection is an ever evolving luxury skincare routine but does it work? At this price point you’ve got to hope the Metacine Plasma Growth Factor Serum, Infusion, Emulsion retinoid night cream, HYDR/O Bioactive Hydrolipid Barrier, Eyelift and Liplift would give dramatic results. After all, it’s formulated by top Beverly Hills Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr Jason Diamond and inspired by his in-office procedure, the Diamond InstaFacial. The famous Instafacial features a series of lasers & PRP micro needling and the Metacine Instafacial is designed to give you similar results at home. Or at least the best we can hope for without having professional lasers and microneedling machines at home! It’s a lot to fork out, so here’s my honest review of the Plasma, Liplift, Eyelift, Infusion, Emulsion and HYDR/O, including how to use them, benefits, tips, before and after photos, my results, how to save money, and whether I think Dr. Diamond’s Metacine is worth it.
I’ve been using Dr Diamond’s Metacine InstaFacial collection since it launched and have tested each product as it was added to the line, giving me a longer-term perspective on results than most reviews offer. Who is Dr. Jason Diamond
Dr. Jason Diamond is the famous plastic surgeon and facial specialist whose celebrity clients include Katy Perry, the Kardashians and Chrissy Teigen. Dr. Jason Diamond is renowned for his facial surgeries and Diamond InstaFacial, the price of which varies depending on what treatments are necessary and isn’t listed, but you can expect to be eye watering. Luckily Dr. Diamond’s Metacine is inspired by his Diamond Instafacial and designed to give us similar results for a lot less at home.
What is Dr Diamond’s Metacine InstaFacial Collection?
Dr. Diamond’s Metacine is a luxury skincare collection developed by Beverly Hills facial plastic surgeon Dr. Jason Diamond and inspired by his in-office Diamond InstaFacial treatment. What originally launched as a streamlined two-step skincare routine has evolved into a six-product collection, combining the InstaFacial range with targeted treatments for the eyes and lips.
The collection includes:
- Plasma: A bioactive growth factor serum designed to support skin repair, rejuvenation, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- LipLift: A lip treatment targeting volume, color, hydration, and definition.
- EyeLift: A targeted eye serum addressing concerns including crow’s feet, puffiness, volume loss, and upper eyelid firmness.
- Infusion: A microcollagen serum designed to improve the appearance of firmness, elasticity, and facial contours.
- Emulsion: A nighttime retinoid treatment focusing on skin renewal, texture, and fine lines.
- HYDR/O: A hydrating moisturizer designed to strengthen the skin barrier and reduce moisture loss.
What makes Metacine different from many traditional luxury skincare collections is its focus on bioengineered, skin-identical ingredients, including growth factors, peptides, and specialized hydration technology.
The products are designed to complement one another, but you don’t necessarily need all six to benefit from the collection. I’ve been testing Metacine since its original launch, including the newer additions, so here’s what I’ve actually noticed, which products have impressed me most, and whether I think they’re worth the investment.
Dr Diamond Metacine clinical results: What does the research show?
One of the reasons Dr. Diamond’s Metacine comes with such a high price tag is the research and technology behind its formulations. Rather than relying on one hero ingredient, the collection combines bioengineered growth factors, peptides, retinoids and other active ingredients designed to work together to support skin rejuvenation. But what about the actual results?
The brand has conducted independent clinical testing on InstaFacial Plasma and Emulsion, with participants evaluated after four and eight weeks of use. According to Dr. Diamond’s Metacine, the clinical findings included:
- 91% showed improvement in crow’s feet wrinkles after eight weeks, measured using VISIA-CR imaging.
- 77% showed improvement in under-eye elasticity after eight weeks.
- 91% reported smoother, more refined skin texture after four weeks.
- 83% reported healthier, more youthful-looking skin after four weeks.
- 91% reported firmer, lifted-looking skin after eight weeks.
- 83% reported more luminous, radiant-looking skin after eight weeks.
These are encouraging results, although it’s worth remembering that the study assessed Plasma and Emulsion together, rather than proving which individual product was responsible for each improvement. You can read more about the testing on the official Metacine science page.
Of course, clinical results are one thing, but I also wanted to see whether the products delivered noticeable improvements to my own skin. So let’s get into my individual Metacine product reviews.
1: Dr Diamond Metacine Plasma Review $200
Designed to be step 1 in your Dr. Diamond’s Metacine skincare routine, this has become a staple in my skincare routine. Diamond’s Metacine Instafacial Plasma mimics what’s used in Dr. Diamond’s Instafacial and has 5 bioengineered, bioidentical human growth factors. These are designed to simulate the effect of platelet-rich plasma to support skin repair and rejuvenation by turning on production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.
It also has potent anti-inflammatory peptides that are supposed to function similarly to Botox, diminishing the look of expression lines & possibly prolonging the effects of Botox, their words not mine, and support wound healing. It can also be used in place of vitamin C but I don’t personally normally use Vitamin C.
Plasma is one of my two favorite serums in the collection because it’s one I’ve actually seen visible results from, particularly when it comes to fine lines and wrinkles. It’s also the serum I reach for when my skin needs a little extra TLC, whether that’s during my 12-week Tria FRX treatment course, after at-home microneedling, or whenever my skin is feeling particularly stressed and needs some extra support.
2: Dr Diamond Metacine LipLift Hyaluron Peptide-6 BioFill Lip Treatment Review: Contour Collection $120
Liplift is the latest addition to Dr. Diamond’s Metacine Contour Collection, designed to be used twice daily after Metacine Plasma, with additional touch-ups throughout the day before makeup. Think of it as a lip treatment and primer in one, designed to address the loss of volume, color and definition that happens as lips age.
Like the rest of the Metacine and Contour collections, Liplift is based on treatments Dr. Diamond developed in-clinic. What sets it apart from the many temporary lip plumpers on the market is its focus on both immediate and longer-term results. A Peptide-6 Complex is designed to stimulate fat production and decrease fat breakdown, while a novel oil-compatible form of hyaluronic acid absorbs into the lips for rapid plumping.
It can be used on and around the lips, either on its own or alongside lip filler, and Dr. Diamond says it may also help prolong filler results. With consistent use, it’s designed to deliver cumulative results over two to three months rather than simply plumping lips until the product wears off.
I noticed pretty much instant results from the LipLift lip serum, particularly when it came to improving the color and radiance of my lips. Within two weeks, my vermilion border (the outline of my lips) also looked noticeably more defined. Another thing I appreciate is that it doesn’t have that burning or tingling sensation you get with so many lip plumpers. It feels much more comfortable to use, while still giving me visible results.
3: Dr Diamond Metacine EyeLift Review Bioremodeling Peptide Multiplex Review $225
Eyelift was the first product launched in Dr. Diamond’s Metacine Contour Collection, inspired by his non-surgical Diamond Facial Contour procedures. I attended an exclusive Zoom masterclass with Dr. Diamond for the launch and have been testing it since its release.
It’s a clinically validated bioserum targeting 10 signs of aging around both the under-eye and upper lid: puffiness, dark circles, fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, loss of volume, poor contour definition and upper lid laxity. The Bioremodeling Peptide Complex uses bioengineered human-identical peptides to support structural protein production while inhibiting collagen breakdown simultaneously.
To use: Apply 1 pump morning and evening after your Plasma and before Infusion. It’s hydrating, absorbs quickly and wears well under makeup as long as you don’t over apply. One pump across both eyes is plenty.
Both my husband and I are onto our second bottle as we were so impressed with the results. Especially in softening our crows feet, volume under eyes, improving our hooded eyelids, and overall texture. As a Beauty Editor it’s my job to keep trying new products to review for you and to keep finding the best, but so far this is one of the most noticeable results I’ve seen from an eye cream for anti-aging and one I’d keep coming back to.

4: Dr Diamond Metacine Infusion Review: Biomimetic Microcollagen Matrix $350
Metacine Instafacial Infusion Biomimetic Microcollagen Matrix was designed as the ultimate science-backed solution for gravity-defying skin. This lightweight creamy gel collagen treatment is step 3 in the InstaFacial® Collection. Formulated with a proprietary matrix of three types of bioengineered, human-identical microcollagen, engineered in a lab to be human-identical to make it more stable, consistent and potent, that claims to visibly firm, lift, contour & hydrate your skin.
You apply 1-2 pumps on slightly damp skin both in the morning and evening after your Instafacial Plasma and Eyelift in the morning and in the evening.
My first bottle lasted me 2 months when using it twice a day which is pretty good going as I’m normally very heavy handed and get through products quickly. It had outstanding results in their clinical trials and I’m sharing my personal before and after results below.
I’m always intrigued by collagen products but this was my least favorite product in the collection. There was some softening of lines and lifting of my eyelids but I’d rather use the Plasma for softening and EyeLift which works phenomenally for my entire eye area.
5: Dr Diamond Metacine Emulsion Review | Retinopro Growth Factor Night Cream $350
Dr. Diamond’s Metacine InstaFacial Emulsion is described by the brand as being like a laser treatment in a bottle. It’s a nighttime cream formulated with a bioactive retinoid designed to encourage skin renewal without the irritation commonly associated with traditional retinoids. The brand says it’s gentle enough for sensitive skin, and I’ve personally experienced no irritation from it. It’s also designed for year-round use, although I’d still recommend using it only at night and wearing SPF during the day.
The formula also contains peptides, lipopeptides, a human-identical growth factor, niacinamide, and a four-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid complex. Together, these ingredients are designed to support collagen and elastin, improve hydration, smooth the appearance of skin, and help maintain the skin’s moisture barrier.
My experience with Metacine Emulsion
Of all the products in the Metacine collection, Emulsion is probably the one I’d most closely associate with the improvement in my skin texture. Since using it, my pores appear tighter and less visible, and my skin feels noticeably smoother overall. While I’ve been using the collection together, rather than testing each product in isolation, I suspect Emulsion has played an important role in those results. I just skip it when I’m doing things like my Tria FRX at-home fractional laser treatments.

How to use Metacine Emulsion
I only use Metacine Emulsion at night, immediately after InstaFacial Plasma, and a bottle lasts me approximately two months. If you experience dryness, consider gradually building up to nightly use rather than introducing it every evening straight away. You can also incorporate HYDR/O as your final moisturizing step, before SPF in the morning. I’ve mentioned experiencing some dryness while using the Metacine collection in previous videos, and HYDR/O has worked wonders for me in combating it. It really was the missing step in the collection, and I love having it as part of my routine.
6: Dr Diamond Metacine HYDR/O Bioactive Hydrolipid Barrier Review $300
The Hydr/o Bioactive Hydrolipid Barrier is the latest launch from Dr. Diamond’s Metacine skincare line and I got to try it ahead of its release. I like that they focus on quality over quantity. They only release one product at a time, and each one goes through extensive research and clinical testing before making it to our shelves.
So what makes this different from just another luxury moisturizer? The Hydr/o Bioactive Hydrolipid Barrier is designed to go deeper than surface-level hydration. It uses a patent-pending technology they call Bioactive Hydrolipid Fusion. Which is a blend of lipid and water micromolecules that closely mimics the way youthful skin hydrates and protects itself. It’s light, absorbs quickly, leaves no greasy residue but still feels rich, nourishing and left my skin feeling really silky and bouncy.
Think of HYDR/O as both your moisturizer and barrier-support treatment in one. It’s brilliant if you experience dryness from using Metacine Emulsion, and it’s worked really well for me, especially living in the Las Vegas desert, where dry skin can be a real issue. For me, HYDR/O was the missing step in the Metacine collection. I’d previously talked about experiencing dryness while using the routine, and adding this has made such a difference. I love that it’s lightweight and absorbs quickly but still leaves my skin feeling silky, bouncy, and comfortably hydrated without any greasy residue. It’s also become particularly useful when my skin needs extra hydration and barrier support, including during my Tria FRX treatment course.
Hydr/o Bioactive Hydrolipid Barrier benefits:
- Delivers deep hydration through multiple layers of the skin.
- Helps repair and strengthen the skin barrier.
- Protects against environmental stressors (like UV + pollution)
- Supports your skin’s microbiome.
- Soothes redness and inflammation.
- Improves texture, elasticity and softness.
If you’re into science-backed skincare, and want hydration that feels like it’s actually doing something, this might be one to watch or add to your Metacine collection.
How to use Metacine Instafacial collection: anti-aging skincare routine
Dr Diamond’s Metacine is a 5 step morning routine and 6 step evening routine:
Morning skincare routine:
- Apply 3-5 drops of the Plasma Growth Factor Serum to damp skin.
Pro tip: Don’t use a full pipette of the plasma. 3-5 drops is all you need and it will help it to last longer. I made the mistake of using a full dropper each time and it only lasted me 3 weeks whereas I still had plenty of Emulsion left. - Apply Liplift on and around lips.
- Apply 1 pump of Eyelift to both your upper lid and under your eyes.
- Apply 1-2 drops of the Metacine Instafacial Infusion Biomimetic Microcollagen Matrix immediately after the Plasma (to slightly damp skin).
- Apply Hydr/o Bioactive Hydrolipid Barrier before your SPF. In the morning I follow with eye cream (optional) and SPF (a must have as the emulsion contains retinoid).
Evening skincare routine:
- Apply 3-5 drops of the Plasma.
- Apply Liplift on and around lips.
- Apply 1 pump of Eyelift to both your upper lid and under your eyes.
- Apply 1-2 drops of the Metacine Instafacial Infusion Biomimetic Microcollagen Matrix to slightly damp skin.
- Apply 1-2 pumps of the Emulsion Retinoid Night Cream immediately after.
- Apply Hydr/o Bioactive Hydrolipid Barrier.
You could just use this skincare collection for a special occasion but it really is something that’s better to stick to for the long term. As it was really after 8 weeks in their clinical trials that people started to see the difference in firmness and less wrinkles and the best results can take up to 3 months.
Pro tip for using Dr. Diamond Metacine Plasma
To get the best results from your Dr. Diamond Metacine Plasma, try using it after your next at-home microneedling treatment. The micro channels you create during your treatment will allow the plasma to penetrate even deeper. Allowing the human growth factors regenerating and healing properties in the plasma to work optimally.
Is Dr Diamond Metacine worth it? My honest review
There’s no getting around the fact that Dr. Diamond’s Metacine is expensive. And while I originally loved the simplicity of the two-step InstaFacial routine, expanding the collection to six products has made it a considerably bigger investment.
However, having used Metacine since its launch, I do think it’s worth the money if it’s within your budget. I’ve tested a lot of luxury skincare over the years, and Metacine is one of the few collections where I’ve genuinely seen visible improvements in my skin. My fine lines look softer, my pores appear smaller, my skin texture is smoother, and my overall complexion looks more refined. You can see my personal results in the before-and-after photos below.
Part of what makes the collection expensive is the research and technology behind the formulations. Dr. Diamond’s Metacine uses proprietary and specially developed ingredient complexes, including bioengineered growth factors and peptides, and the brand has invested in independent clinical studies to evaluate its products. Of course, innovative ingredients and clinical research don’t automatically mean a product will work for everyone. But in my experience, this is one of those occasions where you really do get what you pay for.
My three favorite Dr Diamond Metacine products
If I had to narrow the collection down to my personal favorites, they’d be Plasma, EyeLift, and HYDR/O.
Plasma is one of my favorite serums because I’ve seen visible improvements in my fine lines and wrinkles. It’s also something I reach for when my skin needs extra TLC, including during my Tria FRX treatment course.
EyeLift has been particularly impressive for my eye area. Both my husband and I have seen improvements, especially in the appearance of crow’s feet, hooded eyelids, and the skin around our eyes. It’s one of the few eye treatments I’ve used where the results have been noticeable enough to make me want to keep using it.
HYDR/O has become another favorite because it provides the hydration I felt the original collection was missing. Living in the Las Vegas desert, dryness is always something I have to consider. I love its lightweight, non-greasy texture, and it’s made a noticeable difference to how hydrated and comfortable my skin feels.
I’ve also been using Plasma and HYDR/O during my Tria FRX treatment course because I’ve found them non-irritating and particularly helpful when my skin needs extra support. Plasma contains growth factors and peptides designed to support the skin’s natural repair processes, while HYDR/O contains skin-identical lipids, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid to help maintain hydration and support the skin barrier.
Do you need the entire Metacine collection?
Not necessarily. If you can comfortably afford the full six-product collection and want a comprehensive skincare routine, I’d say go for it. The products are designed to complement one another and address different aspects of skin aging.
However, I wouldn’t suggest stretching your budget just to buy every product. My recommendation would be to start with the two products that best address your biggest skin concerns, see how your skin responds, and build your routine from there.
For example:
- Fine lines and wrinkles: I’d start by considering Plasma, which has given me some of my most noticeable results.
- Uneven texture and visible pores: Emulsion would be one of my first choices because it’s designed to encourage skin renewal, and I suspect it’s played an important role in improving my own skin texture.
- Crow’s feet, hooded eyelids, and other eye-area concerns: EyeLift would be my pick, particularly given the results my husband and I have experienced.
- Dryness and dehydration: HYDR/O is the obvious choice for me. It’s a moisturizer I’d happily recommend considering even if you’re not using the entire Metacine collection.
- Loss of firmness and facial definition: Infusion is the product specifically formulated to target those concerns.
- Lip color, volume, and definition: LipLift is worth considering. I noticed an improvement in color and radiance almost immediately, and my lip border looked more defined within two weeks.
You can always add other products later if you feel your skin needs them. I’d rather invest in two products that address my concerns than spend a fortune on a complete routine simply because the products are sold as a collection.
My final verdict
For me, Dr. Diamond’s Metacine is one of the luxury skincare collections that actually lives up to its price tag. It’s not a facelift in a bottle, and I wouldn’t expect everyone to get exactly the same results, but the improvements I’ve seen in my own skin have made it a worthwhile investment.

2026 updates on using the full Dr Diamond’s Metacine Insfacial below. I’ve been using the anti-aging 2 step system every morning and evening for 2 months now and these are my results. It’s not a miracle fix or face lift in a bottle but there are definite improvements. Even my friends started complimenting me on my skin and asked what I was doing, as they know as a Beauty Editor I’m always trying something new.
I highly recommend taking before and after photos so you can track your progress. As it’s very hard to track progress just by looking in the mirror day after day as the results don’t come overnight.
Results after 1 month using Dr Diamond skincare:
The biggest changes I saw were that my pores looked a lot smaller and less visible, there was improvement in my overall skin tone and radiance, reduction in brown hyperpigmentation spots, and my skin color looked more even.

After seeing my Dr Diamond Metacine before and after results using the 2 step system, I was even more excited to put the 3 step system to the test to see what my results would be like. These are my results after using the Plasma and Infusion in the morning and Plasma, Infusion and Emulsion in the evening every day for 5 weeks.
What I notice the most is the softening of my fine lines on my forehead, around my eyes and my smile lines, my pores look smaller, the texture looks more refined and my sun spots appear lighter. Pretty amazing results for only 5 weeks use!

Unfortunately I ran out of Plasma a month into testing Eyelift and was just testing the Eyelift only afterwards. But using Dr Diamond’s Eyelift was a game changer!
