Diorshow VS Iconic Overcurl Mascara VS Diorshow Overvolume Review
What’s the best Dior mascara? I put Diorshow 24h Buildable Volume Mascara, Diorshow Iconic Overcurl mascara and Diorshow Overvolume to the test. I wanted to see the difference between them, find out which is the best, and if they did what they claimed to do in this Dior mascara review. I tested them all with and without using Dior 3D maximizer lash mascara primer to see if you really need that extra step. There’s a few key differences so a lot will come down to whether you want more volume, curl and condition or more natural ingredients and fluttery length. Since it’s time to reorder I’m going to share my thoughts on whether they live up to their claims, if my sensitive eyes can handle them and if they’re worth it or not.

As a beauty blogger who started performing on stage at age 11, I’ve had decades of trying various mascaras. So I have quite high standards expectations when it comes to luxury brand mascara’s and primer’s.
The luxury mascara’s also have to be worth their money since there are so many good drug store options like Maybelline. I put the Diorshow 24h Buildable Volume Mascara, Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara and Diorshow Overvolume in black to the test.
Diorshow 24h Buildable Volume Mascara VS Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara VS Diorshow Overvolume review
Am I swapping my Overcurl mascara for the Buildable Volume or Diorshow Overvolume? I was impressed with 2 of these mascaras and disappointed in 1, but which is the best is personal depending on the results you want from your mascara.
I’m sharing the differences and results between Diorshow Buildable Volume Mascara and Diorshow Overcurl Spectacular Volume and Curl Mascara in a comparison review to decide which is best for you.

What’s the difference between Diorshow Buildable Volume Mascara, Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara and Diorshow Overvolume Mascara review
These are the main differences between these Dior mascaras:
- All of them offer 24h wear and have a transfer-proof finish.
- Buildable Volume and Overcurl are infused with cornflower extract, Overvolume is infused with D-Panthenol to help revitalize and strengthen lashes.
- Diorshow Buildable Volume is better suited to you if you care more about natural origin ingredients as it’s made from 90% natural-origin ingredients. Whereas the iconic Overcurl or Overvolume Mascara is better if you’re looking for lash care as Overcurl contains cotton nectar to help fortify and make lashes shine and Overvolume has D-Panthenol to help revitalize and strengthen.
- Diorshow Iconic Overcurl comes in 5 colors vs Diorshow Buildable Volume mascaras 3 colors VS Overvolume which only comes in 009 Overblack.
- If you care about sustainability Iconic Overcurl is Dior’s 1st refillable mascara as part of the House of Dior’s sustainable beauty initiative.
- The wands are different shapes: Overcurl has an ultra-precise curved brush vs Buildable Volume’s XXL straight wand vs Overcurls Petal-shaped fine bristles.
- Diorshow Buildable Volume is great if you’re looking for more separation and lash definition. Maybe you already have long lashes or too much curl makes them hit your upper lid. Whereas Overcurl is more for fanning out, lengthening and adding volume and curl to lashes while nourishing them. Overvolume is for an “extreme volume boost while defining each lash for a fanned-out look”.
- Application wise for more volume and length you can use their Diorshow Maximizer 3D lash primer-serum with all of these.
- It doesn’t matter which side of the wand you apply the Diorshow Buildable Volume or Overvolume mascaras with. You just use an upward swiping motion on your top lashes and a downward swiping motion on your bottom lashes. With the Overcurl you apply the mascara vertically with the concave side of the brush. You can then boost and set the curl by pressing the brush against the upper lash line for an eyelash-curler effect.
- Overcurl mascara gives a more uniform look and more volume.
- They’re all easy to build layers with.
- The Diorshow Buildable Volume mascara’s straight wand is easier to use on the bottom lashes.
They range from $35-38 with Overvolume being the most expensive. So it really just depends on whether you want the lash care, volume and a refillable mascara or just separation and definition.
What’s the best Dior mascara for you
If you want more fluttery length but already have long curly lashes Diorshow 24h Buildable Volume Mascara is probably going to be best for you. As too much length and curl is going to end up leaving you with mascara on your upper lid.
If you’re looking for more volume and curl, the Dior Overcurl Mascara is going to be the best Dior mascara for you. I ironically find that the Iconic Overcurl mascara gives more volume than the Diorshow Buildable Volume mascara and the Overvolume mascara after 1, 2 and 3 coats!
I bought the Dior Overvolume mascara as I loved the cannage leather packaging but I was disappointed in this mascara. I didn’t find it gave my lashes any more volume than their other mascaras and it dried out really quickly. The leather was also hard to keep clean. So I’m sticking to the Overcurl which I love for length, volume, curl and conditioning when used with their 3D Primer. I feel like all mascaras work best used with a good lash primer.

Is Dior Diorshow 3D Mascara Primer-Serum worth it
I adore the Diorshow Maximizer 3D which is Dior’s lash primer-serum. I don’t know if it’s my favorite per say as I find most of them pretty good. However, it is the one that works the best with Diorshow mascaras and does make a big difference in adding more volume and length to your lashes. So I highly recommend using all Dior mascaras with this.
