The Most Practical ‘Cool-Girl’ Combat Boot Trend
Platform combat boots or womens combat boots with heels, pockets and zip pouches are one of those trends that might not be around for long but are too cute and comfy to pass on. Whether you’re on the hunt for the instantly recognizable and iconic Prada Monolith boots, R13’s, Dr. Martens or looking for something a little less pricey for Fall and Winter I have you covered. There are so many rugged womens combat boots out right now from designer to Steve Madden boots with pouches that make this trend more affordable. If you’re like me and like a bit of extra height, combat boots with heels are perfect for cheating some inches while still being comfortable.

Prada Monolith boots with their cute zippered purses were one of those leather combat boots for women I thought were a bit gimmicky at first but that have grown on me. Now I’m totally crushing on them, especially the crisp, white version.
Ok, the zippered pouch might be more fashion than function but I can still get tissues, a credit card, ID (just, it’s a squeeze) and mini lipstick in there. What more does a girl need? Let’s be fair, our phones are in our hands or pockets more than in our bags anyway.
If you’re looking for more of a classic combat boot you can’t go wrong with either R13 or Doc Marten for quality and edgy styles.
If you’re looking for a luxe for less pair, check out Steve Madden and JustFab. I was gifted these white platform combat boots from JustFab and now want them in black too. They’re so comfortable as the sole is super padded. They look fiddly to put on but they’re actually just a zipper. The laces and buckles stay fastened. They’re also under $100. Which makes them perfect to nail this trend without doing too much damage with the credit card.
Why to love platform combat boots
Street style stars and models Sora Choi, Lila Moss, Denise Ascuet, Shalom Harlow, Bella Hadid and Irina Shayk have all been seen wearing combat boots for the last couple of years on and off the runway. What got me most on this years chunky sole combat boots wasn’t the grungy aesthetic but the chunky heel and sole. They give me a height boost, I’ll grab all the help I can, while feeling like a flat.

I’ve rounded up my top picks for womens combat boots. With different types of soles and heel heights from chunky lug soles to platforms to high heel versions. As well as designer to more affordable boots with pockets if you’re looking for that style this season.
How to style platform combat boots
These aren’t just boots you throw on with your leggings and casual street wear. Although that’s my go to for this 90’s throwback trend. These are boots you can create so many juxtapositioned looks with. Think edgy with soft, feminine with masculine and take styling inspo from the celebs and models who are styling their R13’s and Doc. Martens with everything from mini dresses to gowns.
Even on the runways at NYFW womens combat boots were styled with glittering, metallic gowns. I’ve yet to try that but will be adding pics here soon. Back in the 90’s we were all styling our Doc. Martens with floaty floral dresses which is more wearable IRL than gowns and I’m sure we’ll see a resurgence of that next Spring.
What are combat boots
Ok, so platform combat boots are definitely not military issue but I love this twist on this classic style.
Boots of a type worn by soldiers in combat, typically black with laces and thick rubber soles.
