If you love apple pie, you’ll love these 3 healthy options: high protein shake, ice-cream or mug cake.

Who doesn’t love the smell and taste of Apple pie spiced with cinnamon? It’s always been a Fall favorite of mine, but I always feel guilty afterwards having eaten all of those calories, carbohydrates and fats.

I’m always looking for healthier alternatives and came up with this high protein, low carb, fat-free alternative instead. Which has all of the flavor and is just as filling but without the sugar crash and excess. The only thing it doesn’t do is make your house smell like fresh baked pie, but there’s candles for that.

Apple Pie Protein Shake Nutrition

It takes less than a minute to make and is packed with 30g protein, under 150 calories, and 0g fat; perfect for a post-workout guilt-free treat.

To make this as a shake and not ice cream just use less ice and more water.

High Protein Apple Pie Ice Cream or Shake

Ingredients

  • 1 scoop vanilla or cinnamon roll protein powder.
  • I used ON Platinum Hydro Whey but you can use whichever brand you prefer. Some blend better with ice that others for a creamy rather than icy texture.
  • ⅓ cored apple (with or without skin)
  • 12 oz ice
  • 4-6 oz water
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Optional 1/2 tsp of ginger

Directions

  1. Blend everything together until it forms a smooth ice cream consistency. I used the Ninja Pro.
  2. That’s it! Serve & enjoy.

How to Make Apple Pie Ice cream/shake Healthy Recipe

How to Make Apple Pie Protein Mug Cake

You can also microwave this same recipe as a mug cake for more of a warm, pie treat.

  • 1 scoop vanilla or cinnamon roll protein powder. I used Dymatize Iso but you can use whichever brand you prefer.
  • ⅓ cored apple (with or without skin)
  • 3- 4 oz water
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Optional 1/2 tsp of ginger

Once hand mixed, microwave in a mug or jug for 20-60 seconds depending on if you prefer more of a molten cake texture or fully cooked cake.

Hydro Whey protein powders tend not to bake too well and end up like cardboard. Dymatize ISO 100 Hydrolized Whey is one of the few isolates that actually aren’t too bad cooked but those with casein tend to cook the best.
