Plasma Pen treatments are trending but does Fibroblast skin tightening work? Here’s my personal plasma lift review of the experience
Plasma Pen Fibroblast skin tightening is something very new to me. I only heard about the Fibroblast plasma pen last year from a friend who was using this treatment on clients at his med spa in Las Vegas and seeing great results. He knew how much my hooded eyes that prevented me from doing liquid eyeliner, chicken pox scars and crows feet that extend down my cheeks bothered me. Aging is cruel! So he suggested I try this. This is my complete Fibroblast skin tightening plasma pen review including my fibroblast before and after photos everyday of the recovery period. I’m not a medical professional and paid for this treatment.
All opinions in this plasma lift review are my own and my personal experience. They do not replace the advice of medical, healthcare or skincare professionals.
Plasma Pen Review & everything you need to know before you go!
Plasma Pen Fibroblast Skin Tightening Everything You Need to Know | Plasma Lift Treatment Review, Before & After
Here’s my plasma pen before and after videos and everything I wish I’d known before the treatment. As well as my before and after plasma skin tightening treatment videos, the actual treatment being done on me and recovery/healing process. I had the plasma pen eye lift which included my eye lids and under eyes.
What is fibroblast skin tightening plasma pen treatment
Fibroblast skin tightening is done with a fibroblast plasma pen can be used all over the face and neck or just to treat certain problem areas like I did. As well as for stretch marks, acne scars and loose skin on the stomach.
The precision device works by utilizing the voltage in the air between its tip and the skin, to form a plasma charge. An electrical arc is created and instantly shrinks the targeted skin. This micro-trauma stimulates new collagen (neocollagenesis). The tissue retraction and tightening gives results that are comparable to invasive surgery.

This leaves behind lots of tiny reddish brown to dark brown spots on the areas treated. The idea is that the skin around the spot tightens reducing wrinkles and scars.
Fibroblast skin tightening plasma pen review
I’ve tried to include everything in this Fibroblast review. It’s what I think it’s helpful to know before you book your first fibroblast plasma pen treatment. However, please always read and follow the care instructions given to you by your personal skincare provider, this is not medical advice but my personal plasma pen review.
Before my Plasma Pen Fibroblast skin tightening treatment
It’s hard to put into words how nervous I was going for my first fibroblast skin tightening treatment. The fibroblast plasma pen is quite controversial. While TikTok made this anti aging treatment go viral, lots of dermatologists, states and countries are on the fence as to how safe it is. So definitely do your research when choosing your service provider.
Why did I have plasma fibroblast skin tightening done
I’ve been suffering with really down days where I don’t want to leave the house and have been really struggling with the whole aging process. A few of the physical things bugging me were:
- Drooping eyelids: This has crept on over the last few years and made winged eyeliner nearly impossible as it smudges onto the upper lid.
- Chicken pox scars and deep pores: I’ve had these since I was 14 but the deep pore is fairly new and thanks to HD they really read on camera.
- Lines on my cheeks: these aren’t just crows feet. They extend deeply all the way down my cheeks. I love highlighter but even the liquid ones just make them look worse.
This isn’t a treatment that I saw and chose but that was recommended to me by the person who did it as the best solution without going under the knife and knowing that botox doesn’t work for me.
What to expect at your fibroblast skin tightening appointment
There’s a bit of prep before your appointment so make sure you read through all of the paperwork and things to do and not do beforehand. E.g. no self tanning, sun exposure, Retin A, glycolics, etc for at least 2 weeks before.
Once you get there, they’ll thoroughly cleanse your face before numbing the areas to be treated. Trust me, you’ll want it. 35 minutes later we began. I was really clear on the areas I wanted treated, you can even see the lines on my cheeks through the wrap in the photo below which was sealing in the numbing cream.
Are Plasma pen fibroblast treatments painful
Jonathan numbed and did a test area with the fibroblast plasma pen behind my ear to see how well I’d tolerate the pain before we started on my face. We ended up going with level 7 out of 10.
I personally found some areas mildly painful and others excruciating. I might have muted some of my swearing on the YouTube video! It was mainly on my eyelids that the pain was the worst. Luckily the treatment only took 20 minutes but believe me, I was done at the end of that time and am so glad I didn’t do my whole face.
How many fibroblast treatments do you need?
I’m really hoping I’ll need just one fibroblast plasma pen treatment because of the cost, downtime and pain. However, for most people it’s 2 and even 3 if you have deep lines with 12 weeks between treatments. I’ve been told that it takes about 6-8 weeks to see the results from the plasma lift where the collagens being produced and healing your wounds.
Immediately after my plasma fibroblast skin tightening treatment
Jonathan put me in a red light therapy bed for 20 minutes to help speed up the healing process. As red light therapy’s known for activating production of collagen and preventing inflammation to help speed up the healing process.
That night I just went home and had a cold dinner. I was warned not to let any steam, even the heat from the oven hit my face as it can cause hyper pigmentation.
If you have your face treated you’ll have to sleep elevated on your back until the swellings gone. You don’t wash or put anything on your face for the next 48 hours. You’re also not supposed to take any NSAIDs but luckily I didn’t have any pain, it just felt hot and tight.
How much does fibroblast skin tightening cost?
It varies from country to country, state to state but after comparing lots of different med spa pricing it generally starts around $300 for a small area and goes up to approximately $1800 for a full face.
Plasma pen fibroblast skin tightening after photos day by day
Day 1 After Fibroblast Skin Tightening
I was warned my eyelids might be super swollen today since we treated that area with the fibroblast plasma pen but they started fine. There’s no showering or washing my face today. The idea is to let it dry heal for 48 hours before touching it besides to tap on colloidal silver 2-3 x per day.
My nose looks broken in this photo where the swelling’s uneven. The swelling started in the afternoon of day 1 but there was minimal bruising at this point. It just felt very tight and itchy.
Day 2 after plasma pen treatment
The swelling and bruisings come out more today but there’s no pain. I’m using the collidal silver still and after 6pm I could splash my face with room temperature water and use the epidermal repair lotion and lipid moisturizer. I was nervous to touch it in case a dot fell off but it felt so good to be clean and hydrated.
The other issue I had today was burning watering eyes which were hard to deal with while trying not to touch the treated area. I couldn’t find any information about this in any plasma fibroblast reviews but have been advised to keep the repair products away from my eyes.
Day 3 – Plasma pen crusts are still all there
This is the worst the bruising has been so I’m going back for more red light therapy tomorrow but luckily my eyes have stopped watering. I can’t even feel I’ve had anything done and forget until I look in the mirror!
Day 4 Plasma Pen Review Recovery
I went for red light therapy today to try and help the healing process. I double checked this was safe to do after fibroblast treatments in other plasma fibroblast reviews as I was nervous about the heat.
My eyes have been watering a lot and they are getting red and bloodshot. It’s not painful just super itchy.
Day 5 After Fibroblast Skin Tightening
I spoke with Jonathan who did my treatment and he told me to go with dry healing for the next 48 hours to let my eyes recover from whatever’s causing the reaction. So hopefully that’ll stop the redness, itching and watering so the eyes can heal properly.
Day 6 Plasma pen dots are still all there
Thankfully a lot of the swelling and bruisings gone down today. I started taking arnica tablets last night to help.
Day 7 After Fibroblast Skin Tightening Treatment
I feel like I look exactly like I did the last few days. I’m definitely not healing as fast as the paperwork said and that I’d like as none of the dots have fallen off yet. I’m trying to practice patience as much as I can but it’s hard having read so many other plasma pen reviews and everyone else seems to have healed so much faster.
I spoke with Jonathan to see if it was an area for concern but he reassured me I’m just a slow healer.
Day 13 after plasma pen skin tightening
I skipped a few days as there was pretty much no change. However, today I finally turned a corner and the scabs started coming off while I was applying the repair lotion.
I was starting to have a melt down that it wasn’t going to heal which was incredibly scary, this is your face! Googling:
- What causes slow healing from Fibroblast
- How long should it take to recover after Fibroblast skin tightening
…only made things worse. As nothing came up for slow recovery and healing from Fibroblast skin tightening. All of the plasma pen reviews and articles said the normal results and recovery time was anything from 3-5 days to 7-10.
No one said anything about it taking longer than 10 days but here we are! So if you’re reading this, you’re not alone.
I’ve been going for red light therapy to try to help with the healing and I still have no answers for why mine’s taking longer to heal. I eat so many vegetables, take a multi-vitamin, collagen AM and PM, magnesium, Zinc, Vitamin C and have also been taking Arnica since the treatment.
I didn’t drink alcohol 24 hours before and 48 hours after as advised and then stopped drinking again on day 9 to try and help things along.
Needless to say I’ve been going stir crazy at home avoiding day light, not being able to wash my hair and worrying about my face. If you’re an anxious person or this would concern you like it did me, it might not be worth the psychological effects and stress.
Day 17 Plasma Fibroblast Review
A lot of the larger scabs have fallen off as well as all of the ones on my eyelids. It’s reassuring that it’s finally started to heal. I got the all clear to wash my hair today. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to wash it!
After Plasma Pen | Week 3 recovery photos
All of the plasma carbon crusts and scabs are off. My chicken pox scars are red and look deeper to me than before but I’m hoping it’s all just part of the healing and recovery process.
Plasma Pen Aftercare
I’m still using the repair serum and SPF 50 everyday and have started using Biocorneum SPF 30 scar cream that I had from my biopsy on the pox scars. Until the full 12 weeks are up I’ve been instructed to wear a sun hat, glasses and full protection zinc and oxide sunscreen.
I also paid for a months unlimited usage for the red light bed so that I can try and go 2-3 x per week to help the healing process.
Plasma Pen Fibroblast after eyelid lift and under eye treatment
So here’s the plasma fibroblast results after 3 weeks with makeup on taken in portrait mode on my iPhone but with no editing.
I’m going to keep updating this post at 8 and 12 weeks here as well as on my instagram stories. So if you have any questions I haven’t answered in this plasma fibroblast review drop me a message on IG so I can include them here with the answer either from Jonathan or myself.
Plasma Pen Review | Fibroblast results after 4 weeks
Zoom in to see how everything’s looking. I don’t see that much of a difference in the scars (above my eye and by my nose). However, I do see a small improvement in the wrinkles that were around my eyes and the top of my cheeks.
Plasma Fibroblast before and after results 12 weeks later
I’ve had a lot of you reach out to me on Instagram asking for updates so here we are. In conclusion for this plasma pen review, I still haven’t seen any results from the Plasma lift and am so disappointed.
It was expensive, with a lot of downtime and stress to see zero difference. In saying that maybe I just got unlucky with the skincare provider I chose or aren’t a good candidate. So definitely seek out word of mouth recommendations for who you go to.
After the 12 weeks I started using the Solawave wand with their renew complex serum. Now that I can see a difference from using in the fine lines around my eyes. (see no makeup photo below). Plus it’s a lot cheaper and there’s no down time!
Is Fibroblast worth it?
Right now, my answer is no. The cost of the fibroblast treatment was too high, recovery too long and results not noticeable enough to go through it again. However, I was warned it could take 2 treatments.
It’s just not practical to do a 2nd plasma lift in May as I live in Vegas and will be in Europe to see my family this Summer. There’s no way I can avoid being outside for 12 weeks or take 3 weeks off work again.
Would I do the plasma fibroblast again?
Right now, no, but never say never. The plasma fibroblast results didn’t keep improving over the 12 weeks total recovery time so I’m not convinced to try it again as the downtime was so long and the results not noticeable if any.
I’ve read lots of other plasma pen reviews that have loved their results. I’m sure the results vary from person to person. So if you’re interested, consult with a trained professional to be able to make an informed decision.
I’ve been doing Radiofrequency microneedling instead and have been much happier with the downtime and results.
