Move over black! Red winter coats & jackets are hotter, brighter & right on trend
Women’s Red coats are popping up all over the place. They’re right on time as bright colors are a major trend for Fall Winter 2022-2023. I’d spent ages looking for a replacement for my black winter jacket that had seen better days when red winter coats came onto my radar and made me pivot. Whether it’s a red button down coat, trench coat or puffer coat, from ASOS, Karen Millen or Valentino. The red winter coat is taking its place firmly in our closets this season. If you want a statement coat, this is it!

What to wear with a red coat
Colorful winter outer layers can be hard to coordinate with the rest of your outfit but surprisingly enough, red coats go with pretty much everything. It’ll go with all of your black, white, blue and even pink outfits since clashing pink and red is another current trend.
Another on trend way to wear it is as a monochromatic look with a matching red jacket and pants suit.
How to style red coats
Take some fashion & style inspo from these ladies rocking their red coats from cozy teddy coats with black jeans and gold accessories to belted faux fur trimmed coats with black boots.
Black pants, leggings and jeans are definitely a go to bottom to style with this color jacket. Matching sets are also still trending and matching bottoms will always look pulled together and stylish.
Tailored Red Winter Coats
My legs are always freezing in the Winter so I prefer a longer length coat which isn’t hard at 5’2″! These red winter coats are mid to long length and made from warmer fabrics like wool and cashmere.
What’s a classic style of coat to go for
I like fitted, single breasted or double breasted tailored coats as they’re classic, elevate any outfit and they’re so versatile. They work for everyday, evenings over your dresses, as well as to work.
Some of my favorite coat brands this year are Mackage, Patrizia Pepe and Karen Millen for their stylish and chic designs.
The best red puffer coats 2022
Wardrobes started to get more colorful last year and Fall Winter 2022-2023’s fashion is designed to be optimistic and fun. Emily in Paris is a great place to get some colorful outfit inspiration.
Shop red puffer coats
Puffer coats are perfect for colder days and more casual looks. Plus colorful puffer coats are trending for Winter 2022. Actually pretty much anything colorful is in.
Stylish womens red trench coats
Red trench or long line coats are ideal for layering and for wetter Fall, Winter & Spring days. I love a classic, belted trench coat for creating a more flattering silhouette without the bulk of a thicker coat.

These trench coats add a pop of color to any outfit and make a style statement for FW 2022-2023. If you’re petite like me and don’t want to have it dragging on the floor when you’re wearing flats check out petite collections or if you love something in a regular collection you can always just have it tailored.
Womens red leather jackets
Red leather makes a change from black leather jackets and makes so much more of a statement. There are some really cute styles around this year and they don’t have to cost the Earth.
My top women’s red coat pick
I ended up with this long, gold button, women’s red coat by Patrizia Pepe with its beautiful gold buttons. It’s such a classic style that was love at first sight and even more so as it was on sale for under $500.
Patrizia Pepe is a designer I only discovered last year but I’m absolutely loving her classic and well structured designs.
If you’re looking for a long red coat without gold buttons, Akris wool-blend coat is beautiful. The high stand collar is perfect for cold New York and London Winters and it’s a classic cut that won’t date.

I had the Karen Millen wool double breasted womens red coat shortlisted as my back up in case it didn’t work out but it did and I love it.
I find Patrizia Pepe and Karen Millen sizing both run true to size. Although this coat is a little long for me with flats, it needs heels unless I want to be at the dry cleaners every week. If you’re wanting to wear bulky sweaters underneath, you might want to size up so that the jacket doesn’t pull when fastened.
If you’re looking for a more subtle color, check out these stunning long beige and neutral coats instead.
