The top handle bags trending now from designer to luxe for less
Designer top handle bags will always be a classic, elegant style but they’re a also a major handbag trend for both Fall Winter and Spring Summer. I have them in so many colors from mid range to designer top handle bags. As they’re such a closet staple and I love their rigid structure but this seasons iterations range from classic ladylike styles to structured metallic, red and green. So don’t feel limited to just neutrals. Whether it’s a Chanel top handle bag you’re coveting or Dior, top-handle bags are a hard trend to mess up. Boxy bags are also a big handbag trend this year so why not combine both purse trends. Other bag trends to combine with this are the gold hardware, chain straps, crescent bags or metallic bag trend.

How to wear the designer top handle bag trend
It’s time to break your classic women’s designer top handle bags back out (if you even put them away) or shop for something new. Re-edition bags like the Prada Re-Edition 1995 have been gaining popularity but there’s also a lot of new, fresh designs.
Red, metallics and crystal iterations in all colors are big bag color trends this year but if you’re looking for a bag you can use for more than a season or a year, go for a neutral or a color you love. I just love bags so have them in probably way too many colors and sizes!
For a more practical handbag that can be worn multiple ways, look for a designer top handle crossbody bag. That has both top handles and a shoulder strap so that you can wear it multiple ways.
Are top handle bags in style
Top handle handbags made their way back onto the runways for both Fall Winter and Spring Summer from mini to mid size. Fendi showed summery woven Peekaboo ISeeU top handle bags. Along with Versace who showed lime green faux croc top handle bags, Simone Rocha peach bags with feminine pearl clasps and Dries Van Noten with classic black, boxy styles.
So many designers showcased this style that it’s easy to find a designer top handle bag you love this season. As well as find lots of style inspo from Chanels boxy vanity bags, Hermès, Bally, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton and Off White who all showed top handle bags at their Spring Summer fashion shows.
Structured top-handle bags from some of fashion’s biggest names served as a reminder that an excellent work bag can make you feel powerful from the moment you grip it in your hand.

Best designer top handle bags
Chanel top handle bags are one of the most coveted and they’re one of the best brands for designer top handle bags. I’d say it’s between Hermes, Chanel and Dior when it comes to the best designer top handle bags but at very different price points.
They’re one of those styles that holds it’s value well and it can worn even when it’s not trending but is still a classic.
I definitely recommend looking for the most durable leather when making high ticket designer top handle bag purchases so that they stand a chance of lasting longer. Think full grain leather and calf or goatskin rather than lambskin unless you’re really good at taking care of your bags.
Other designer brands who make beautiful top handle bags include Prada, Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Valentino, Versace, Ferragammo and too many to name. Most fashion houses carry at least one so there’s an overwhelming amount to choose from.
Best mid price top handle bags
If you’re looking for one of the most popular and affordable styles for this year, Diesel’s DR1 metallic bags keep selling out. One of my favorites is their silver and crystal DR1 bag or new silver loop bag shown below. Which is a modern twist on you classic style of top handle bag.
It’s one of the trending brands and styles that’s not too highly priced. It comes in in lots of other colors including trending red, black, and gold if silver’s not your thing. It’s a small handbag size that’s perfect for the evening.
Radley is great for affordable classic styles that are still great quality. Jacquemus styles while on the higher end of the price scalse are instantly recognizable and still the cool it girl brand.
Luar is also a mid price brand that has some of the more fashion forward versus classic styles if you’re looking for a more on trend top-handle bag and don’t want to splurge on a designer top handle bag. If you’re looking for a purse under $100, Revolve and JW Pei have some really well structured options.
I’d originally had my eye on this super structured green top handle bag which is on sale if the Diesel silver handbag didn’t come back in stock. As it’s different, a total statement piece and right on trend for this year.
However, I ended up with a silver crystal bag from Holland Cooper and a bright blue style from Radley London as couldn’t wait. I also have more clothes they will go with than green and it’s a classic style that won’t date as fast or at all. The blue is also one of those bags that will work both with office wear and for everyday.
I also just ordered a red leather top handle bag that looks very similar to Hermès so I’ll share that once it arrives if it’s any good.

These are some of my top picks, best sellers and trending designer top including vegan leather options. Most of them also come with an adjustable shoulder strap in case you want to covert it into a shoulder bag. Always handy at parties when you have a drink in hand.
