10 biggest women’s shoe trends 2026
Fashion is having a throwback to both the 00’s and 2016 when it comes to fashion, bags, shoes, and makeup. Forget quiet luxury, this year is more about showing your personality and shopping with intention, not just copying others. So you don’t have to buy into every trend, it’s more about what speaks to you the most. Whether that’s classic loafers, feminine 3D floral heels, or bold animal print that take centre stage.
There are lots of retro shapes trending for women’s 2026 summer shoes like boat shoes and wedge ballet pumps. I’m all in favor of anything that elongates my legs which a lot of this years heels definitely do.
A lot of these shoe trends are set to stick around for Fall and Winter too from the heels and boots to the trending flats for 2026 like black loafers, ensuring the best CPW.
- Loafers
- Naked shoes
- Animal print
- Boat shoes
- 3D flowers and details
- Adidas sneakers & slim silhouettes
- Thong sandals and flip-flops
- Ballet flats and wedges
- White shoes
- Slingback heels
1. Womens Loafers: Trending Flats 2026
Loafers are probably the most comfortable and practical of these trending shoes for Summer 2026 and expect the trend to keeping going for Fall and Winter too. It’s the model off duty shoe of choice this season that Hailey Bieber keeps being spotted in. While chunky sole loafers are still ok to where, it’s really the classic styles like black leather penny loafers that are really in style this year. They’re better to invest in anyway as they’re a classic style that you can wear year after year.
I’ve hunted down the best cream, black and neutral loafers for this Summer shoe trend edit but will add lots more black styles to the Fall shoe trend edit.

As seen at Jonathan Anderson, Tod’s, Prada and Miu Miu.
2. Women’s shoe trends 2026: Naked shoes
Naked shoes like mesh and transparent PVC iterations are a classic summer shoe that always seems to be back in style every Summer. They’re are another shoe trend that’s still going strong from last Summer so time to get your Summer pedicures going. These super cute, lightweight styles are perfect for traveling, vacation, or styled with all of your summer dresses and jean shorts.

As seen on Margot Robbie, Chappel Roan, Kim Kardashian, Chase Infiniti and Amal Clooney.

3. Women’s Summer Shoe Trends 2026: Animal print
Animal print is everywhere this year from clothes to boots to heels to sneakers. As seen at Ganni, Copenhagen fashion week and Valentino. Whether it’s leopard, zebra or snakeskin effect, the women’s shoe trend for Summer 2026 is sure to be animal print ballet flats or mules. People seem to either love them or hate them. I’m in the love them camp as they’re such a statement piece and always scream confidence.

4. Boat shoes are still in style for 2026
This is shoe trend caught on last year and is here to stay for 2026. Loafers are still a big 2026 shoe trend but if you prefer a more masculine, sporty look you’re in luck. This years boat shoes and mocassin trend isn’t yacht club chic or an “old money” look, it’s chunky lug soles, in leather, patent or suede. Think less nautical and more how we’ve been styling loafers over the last few years: white socks and cute mini skirt to add a feminine, preppy touch to what could otherwise easily be very masculine.
This is one shoe trend I’m personally skipping and sticking to more timeless and elegant loafers instead. I just can’t get into this “ugly” shoe of 2026, the same way I can’t get into Crocs.
Yes, they might be comfortable and sturdy and for some reason set to be one of the most popular shoe trends of Spring/Summer 2026 but there’s so many other comfortable and more stylish options. If you like them, buy them. You won’t be alone and will be on trend.
As seen at Zimmermann, Miu Miu, Bally and Hermès but you don’t have to splurge. So many brands from designer to high street have their own version of these laced loafers to check off this shoe trend.
5. Feminine shoe trends 2026: 3D details
Trending women’s shoes for Summer 2026 include 3D flowers, butterflies, and sparkly details as seen at Dior and Proenza Schouler. I absolutely adore this shoe trend. It’s feminine, statement making, and like wearing a piece of art. Whether it’s satin, delicate mesh, or clear PVC, more is more and instantly makes an outfit more glam and fashion forward. For the most leg lengthening look, go for tan or transparent styles that won’t cut off your leg line.

6. Adidas sneakers & slim silhouettes: casual shoes trend 2026
2026 fashion seems to be either minimalistic or statement making styles and this leans into the minimalist. We are finally saying goodbye to chunky “dad” sneakers and welcoming in slim sneakers. Think lightweight, low-profile, streamline trainers that won’t overpower your outfit.
For the most on trend sneakers for 2026, look for suede or satin. For a designer pair look at Miu Miu Gymnasium Nylon Tech Sneaker, for a mid-range price point Toteme Flex Suede Sneaker or Alo Sunset Sneakers, or for a more affordable pair, Nike X JACQUEMUS Moon Sneaker or Puma Speedcat Ballet Sneaker which are under $100.
Style them with everything from monochromatic looks with a matching set or an all white outfit. These black suede ALO sneakers absolutely nails this shoe trend and go with everything!
7. Summer shoe trends 2026: Thong sandals and flip-flops
Get your feet at the ready! The quintessential vacation flat is making it’s way to the streets, not as rubber flats, but chic leather flats and heels. This year the thong sandal is the official cool-girl shoe of 2026. Think kitten heels, square toes, and neutral palettes that brands like The Row and Toteme are so good at. I’m starting my baby feet masks now while it’s boot season ready to brave this trend in the New Year.

This is one trend I’m tempted to buy into. Especially being petite, these will go a long way in helping to elongate my legs!

8. Summer Shoe Trend 2026 #1 Ballet pumps: The controversial shoe to be seen in
You can’t have missed this shoe trend from last year that’s still in style for 2026. From the runways to the high streets they’re everywhere and one of the top trending shoes for women this year. From neutrals to pastels and bright highlighter colors. However, the trend has taken a controversial turn with wedge ballet pumps suddenly trending in a major way. Love them or hate them, they’re popping up everywhere!

If wedge ballet pumps are too much for you, ballet flats are still in style. Especially ones with rhinestones, crystals, mesh, studs, or decorative straps. These are one of the more comfortable trending women’s summer shoes for 2026 but smarter, more ladylike and office appropriate than flip flops.

They’re perfect styled with other trends for Summer 2026 including tea length dresses, micro-mini skirts, and slime fit jeans. For the most on trend looks, shop for pointed toe iterations.

Shop trending shoes for women: ballet flats edit
Valentino and Sarah Flint are probably one of the most known brands for ballet slippers. Sarah Flint is a celebrity favorite and her Natalie flats sold out after Meghan Markle was seen wearing them during her pregnancy and ever since.

9. White shoes
I’ve been wearing white shoes and boots for a couple of years now and am so happy to see this style go mainstream and not just be on the 2026 runways. They’re one of those fresh, versatile styles that are easy to work into so many outfits from dresses to jeans for all seasons. Whether you get a designer pair or something from Amazon, it’s a really easy way to quickly update your look.
10. Women’s shoes trending 2026: Slingback heels
Another runway trend that’s wearable in real life! Slingback heels were seen on Chrissy Teigen, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, and Kristy Scott at the 68th Grammy Awards 2026 to name a few. If you love a more feminine, chic look, this 2026 shoe trend is for you. Especially styles like Jonathan Anderson’s Dior bow embellished peep toe slingback heels. For Summer style them with bare legs, for colder months, add sheer tights (we’re talking 30 denier or less).

Other shoes trending for 2026
If none of those trending styles made you want to rush out and update your wardrobe other 2026 shoe trends include:
- Naked shoe trend: think transparent PVC and barely there shoes.
- Flat mules and backless loafers.
- Movie inspire gothic details: dark plum noir, buckles, grommets, studs, and lace-up vamps.
- Retro revival: from sneakers to peep toe heels and wedges.
