Fall Fashion & Styles To Love | Trend Report
Fall fashion trends are daring, futuristic and edgy. Fall trends still have that 90s and Y2K influence such as lots of minis, low slung pants and platforms. For Autumn think styles that show lots of skin with a little sparkle, preppy looks, laid back denim & tanks, black and structured corsets inspired by the Fall Winter runway shows by Dior, Versace, Chanel, Balmain, Saint Laurent, Fendi, etc. Want to wear black, wear black, prefer bright highlighter colors, wear those too. Fall women’s fashion trends embodies both and there’s a style for everyone.

1. Preppy styles
Pleated skirts, plaid blazers and womens loafers are set to be a big trend for Fall fashion. From plaid pleated skirts and houndstooth fitted blazers at Dior to military style blazers and pleated patriotic colored skirts at Thom Browne Fall fashion show. However, my favorite preppy looks came from Miu Miu. Who gave their preppy styles a more slouchy but clean, fresh look with cream micro minis and cropped cricket sweaters.
2. Sheer clothing
Not the most practical clothing trend for Fall but possible with some clever styling hacks and layering. Dior F/W had some of the prettiest iterations with sheer skirts over intricate shirts and corsets.
Along with Bottega Veneta whose looks were more sparkly and risqué with sheer sequin dresses over lacy lingerie. Fendi’s sheer styles were probably the most wearable IRL worn over bras and tucked into tailored mini skirts and pants.
One of the most wearable high street versions of this is this black bustier gown which is one of Revolve’s best sellers and also checks off trend #3 below ‘corsets’.
3. Corsets & Bustiers
Corsets and bustiers are still a big trend for Fall. From tailored strapless styles to riskier leather to casual denim. Style them with your jeans, maxi or mini skirts. Thanks to the Bridgerton Netflix series 1, 2 and upcoming 3rd season, expect lots more regency era fashion like corsets and feminine maxi dresses to stay on rotation for the next couple of seasons.
Some of my favorites came from Versace with their pink satin corset styled with black pinstripe pants and their houndstooth bustier styled with the tiniest denim micro mini. Both styled with a chunky gold belt. These 2 black corset top & black strapless bustier are my top picks at under $150 and would look great styled with jeans.
4. Fall Fashion trends | Catsuits
Catsuits have loosened up their cut a little for Fall/Winter which makes them a lot more wearable. Whether it’s a strapless sparkly dressy jumpsuit as seen at Isabel Marant which is giving me all the disco vibes or the more funky styles seen at Dior. No one was belting them and leaving them to create a long unbroken silhouette.
5. Trains | Glam Fall fashion trends
It’s not the first season that dresses and skirts with trains have been in style. I blogged about them back at the start of the year with the dress train edit. Valentino probably had some of the most dramatic fuchsia pink trains billowing down the runways with Elie Saab showing elegant gowns with sweeping trains that are perfect for galas.
6. Sparkly Accents
As seen at Balmain with their futuristic sparkly dresses, Dolce & Gabbana’s sparkly sheer layers and Versace’s sparkly crystal encrusted mini dresses and logo coats. It’s giving us total party vibes and I’m here for it.
7. Easy to Wear Fall Fashion Trends | Medium wash jeans
Low slung jeans are still in for Fall this year. From the very frayed, slouchy styles at Givenchy to the cargo pant style versions at Isabel Marant. This is one of the most practical and wearable Fall fashion trends. Style them with a white tank top, oversized coats and platforms to check off 4 major Fall trends effortlessly.
8. Oversized outerwear
Think cozy robe style coats, faux fur and oversized outwear to snuggle up in for Fall. The faux fur coat is a lot easier to pull off than the faux fur dresses also seen on the FW runways. They’ll be much needed to layer over the sheer clothing trend! As seen at Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana and Bottega Veneta.
10. Maxi skirts and dresses
Maxi skirts and dresses are back for Fall fashion from voluminous to fitted styles. Styled with platform heels to give us impossibly long looking legs. Mini skirts are still in too if maxi’s aren’t your thing. Saint Laurent showed some pretty sheer maxi dresses and well as plunging maxi dresses with thigh high slits.
11. Statement shoulders
Balmain has always been known for their structured styles and shoulders and their Fall fashion is no different. With lots of strong statement shoulder jackets and blazers for both men and women. But they weren’t the only ones, Dolce & Gabbana showed some serious shoulders too from feather to sparkly to leather styles taking on dramatic and futuristic proportions.
12. White Shirts
In all shapes and forms found their way back on the Fall fashion show runways. From the sheer versions with black bows at Ralph Lauren styles with black pants to Thom Browne’s fully buttoned versions complete with neck ties.
13. Tank tops
A closet staple and easy layering piece. The humble tank top is back with white versions seen at Prada with it’s logoed version, Chloe with their ribbed tanks and Bottega Veneta’s simple black and white styling with platforms of course. Style it with jeans, leather pants or a mini skirt but keep it laid back and pared down.
14. Bows
Bows have been big since last year and continue to make appearances. From the giant red bow on the back on the Ralph Lauren gown with a train to simple black bows worn in the models hair at Thom Browne and feminine black bow belts and details at Giambattista Valli Fall/Winter Paris Fashion Week.
These are some of the most wearable and stunning bow dresses for Fall. Including the black version of the Emily in Paris dress by Rotate Birger which is on sale for under $300.
15. The Tux
I’ve always loved my Gucci satin tux but it only comes out every few years when the tux becomes back in style. I love the classic chic vibe it gives and streamlined silhouette plus there’s no wondering about which top to wear with which bottoms.
It doesn’t matter if it’s streamlined or slouchy this season, dressed up or down with a baseball cap. It’s a Fall fashion trend you can really make your own. For styling inspiration look at the FW Alaia, the satin collared versions worn with nothing underneath at Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, Dior and Givenchy runway shows.
